I am about to install my VE and was wondering if there is a more innovative way to install the oil pressure sender without the use of expensive Nisport adapter.

Thanks for suggestions.

You can use a T fitting, but make sure you use a remove line to the pressure sender to keep the weight off the fitting. I've had 2 break before I used a Nissport + extender, and Happynole lost a motor due to a fitting breaking. Here is a thread with the extender, and where to get it. http://www.sr20forum.com/sr20ve-sr16ve/74812-its-begun.html

CS oil distro block.

edit; wait they are $65. In my mind that's cheap because it is absolutely flawless.

I have used the tunertoys one on about 4 cars, never an issue! It is a quality steel piece that won't break.

The Nissport unit I had some leaking issues, but it never broke or anything and I think I still have one.

I have an OEC oil block, only the old school guys know about that! It is essentially what P@ came up with but P@ wasn't around when these guys were. Both blocks are the BEST option and worth the money in my opinion.

My Nissport hasn't leaked in 5 years. I remember Ben and OEC, he kind of fell of the face of the earth. :(

I'm going to ask a stupid question, but did you use thread sealant on the unused fittings on the unit? I've been using mine for at least five years now; no problems.

I tried thread sealant and RTV grey, as soon as I hit the track I always ended up with some small leak from one of the fitting.

yes because it uses the same 1/8 bsp fitting. heres the link i got this from

Both units use the same BSPT type threads, which are identical (the only commonality between Honda and Nissans ), so the clear winner is TunerToys one at half price of the Nisport.
Thanks.

I use the Greddy version sandwich plate and it works fine for oil pressure. I just don't like it because it makes filter changes harder....

I am getting ready to install a VDO oil pressure gauge in my VE. I have purchased the VDO sending unit with 2 wires -- one for the gauge and one for a warning light. I have a couple of questions that should be easy to answer for you guys who have done this:

1. I want to drive the OEM oil pressure warning light with the VDO sending unit. So I'm guessing that I just attach the original wire that went to the Nissan sending unit to the proper terminal on the VDO sending unit. Correct?

2. If the answer to #1 is "yes," I no longer need the OEM sending unit. Correct?

3. If the answers to #1 and #2 are "yes," the VDO sender will not screw into the original location of the Nissan sender because the threads are different, correct?

4. So, I either need to mount the VDO sender on a side location of the Nissport adaptor that I have (which creates a structural weakness possibly resulting in failure), or I use the Nissport adaptor to source a line to the VDO sender that would be mounted somewhere else. (e.g., firewall or back of intake manifold). Sound right?

Thanks for your input. Once I get started on this, I want to have a good plan and all the pieces I need.

whats harder about it? from the looks of it....it seems to go in between the filter and the block. please explain...im thinking of getting this unit...but if you dont recommend it...then i wont bother

The problem is that the plate floats and there is a threaded collar that screws on to the block and holds the sandwich adapter in place. The filter then screws on to that. I have torqued down the collar and once the filter is on and pressure builds, every time I take off the filter the collar comes with it so you have to clean and reinstall the sandwich adapter. Perhaps I could torque it down further but I am afraid of breaking the threads on the block. It is not a huge pain, but with the sandwich plate and a sender installed with a wire attached to that it makes things take longer....

I personally would use the custom steel distribution block and not look back.

My CS oil dist block broke. The ear off the end decided to break off. I now have no way to mount it. meh.

First issue I have heard of with the CS piece. I can see where the tab may need a gusset. Anyone else have issues with the CS block?
