Anyone notice the displays they are putting in all of the auto parts stores, showing this additive to add to your oil to make it adhere better to moving parts? It's made by a company called Lucas. You can turn two wheels and it shows 2 mechanical parts being lubricated but one retains more oil than the one without the Lucus stuff. Anyone ever tried it or have any opinions about it? Heard anything good or bad about Lucas in general? It might take away some of our valve clatter if it's legit! What do you think?

I say just stick to Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic.
Ive seen the Lucas stuff. We dont need it.

Advance Auto has that display around here. They have had it for a few months. The regular motor oil side looks fine but the Lucas side has condensation in it. I don't know what that means but it can't be good.

I saw that display in pep boys yesterday with NismoSER. I know that new products come out every day which further the automotive industry.. Some enhance performance while others extend the life of your vehicle. In this case, i must say that i think i'll be waiting for plenty of public feedback on this product before it goes into my baby. Not that i think there is anything wrong with it, but the chance for adverse effects is there and I do not see any major benefit which justifies the risk. ...IMHO

If you ever watch Boat Drag racing, LUCAS is a huge sponser for them. They have signs everywhere. Those boat guys swear by this stuff.

The Lucas additives are a great product. I work in a store that sells it, one of my co-workers used it in his camaro that was running very low oil pressure and it completely raised his oil pressure back to stock. The stuff pours out like honey. I have seen their tranny additive stop slipping auto trannies. The stuff is good.

This stuff has been out for years in the trucking industry. I know it does a wonderful job in a truck engine and i have personaly limped a couple trannys home with it. But i dont know if i like the thought of thickining my oil after seeing the oilers for the cams.

Hahahaha.

I don't think I would buy this stuff. It kind of sounds akin to just putting thicker oil in...which sounds like a cheaper alternative to me...

I have used the stuff in all the last oil changes that I have done on my car since I have owned it. Not one problem yet I dont see any problems yet and I have 133,000 on the odometer. I also put some in my tranny. No problems there either.

Did you have any valve clatter before you used it? If so did it help any? That would be the only reason I could see getting it. Oil (synthetic) does a great job by itself.

A friend of mine with an Eclipse GST had a noisy lifter and this stuff cured it. If ya need it, it'll prolly do the trick, but I won't be putting it in my motor every oil change.
