Guys I need your help, my car is smoking letting out black smoke sometimes, and blue smoke other times. This only happens when I shift or come to a complete stop, and it doesn't always happen either. I am wondering if I have blown my headgasket or my head gasket is about to go. I don't see why the engine is a fairly new J-spec motor with maybe 10K that have put on it since I've had it. I noticed that the cyclinder head has a decent amount of sludge or something it doesn't look clean at all, and I used a engine flush about a month or so ago, could this smoke I see be a result of the sludge burning off. Or is it a time for another new motor.

I'm gonna take a stab at this:
Black smoke - rings
Blue smoke - head gasket

Hey I want a stab too!! :D
From what I've been told, blue smoke would be oil burning. Black smoke would be fuel, I think. I heard somewhere on this forum that if you are burning oil on acceleration, it's your piston rings. If you are burning oil on decceleration, then it may be your valve seals/guides. Hope this helps.

Tell your car that the Surgeon General has determined that smoking can cause lung cancer, emphysema, artheriosclerosis, breast cancer, prostate cancer, cancer of the esophagus, et cetera, et cetera.
If your car cares for you at all, it will stop smoking. Think of all the extra gas money you'll have!
