What would do a better job of keeping your car running cooler?

running 50% antifreeze and 50% water or running distilled water and redline water wetter....?

well, I think you have to run a little bit of coolant. I'm running about 30/70 with a bottle of water wetter.

All the coolant does is lubricate the water pump.

AND keep your coolant mixture from freezing, thereby screwing your car over. :)

Look at where me and turbo live. Average temperature here is 72 degrees.

Pure water and water wetter is the best combo for cooling. The water wetter is supposed to have all the water pump lubricants in it. I do not recall if it has any anti-corrosion chemicals in there. But most importantly, if you have and use A/C on your car, you need some amount of antifreeze in there to ensure you do not freeze you heater core when you turn the A/C on. I would run 10-15% antifreeze in your situation. I run ~30%, as the winters can get chilly in NC.

I think the water wetter bottle says to use a minimum of 15% coolant....

This link will tell you everything you need to know about Redline's Water Wetter and it's cooling capabilities. It's some pretty interesting reading keeping in mind the author is biased to the product ;) ...

Thanks for the replys everyone that helped a lot. I'll be going to get a bottle of water wetter and distilled water to do this. I dont have AC and I live in San DIego so I really dont think I'll be needing anti freeze, but I'll but a little in just to keep it safe.

Coolant also stops the corrosive process. But if your not worried about freezing, and live in Florida like me, haha, the water wetter is it mang. It also acts as a lubricating and anti-corrosive aggent, all while cooling the car down "Up to 20 degrees cooler!" Haha. Believe everything you see, or maybe I should stop doing that. Anyways, just run straight water and water wetter if your really concerned about cooling.

Heres a little bit extra info on the topic. Antifreeze, besides having the property of lowering the freezing temp of the resulting coolant mixture also has the effect (although not as dramatic) of increacing the boiling temperature.
SO why all the recommendations of just water and Redline in non freezing (hot) climes?
Water has a higher heat capacity. It can carry more thermal energy away from the engine and release it at the radiator. While a coolant mixture offers more 'boil over protection', straight water or water+wetter will keep and engine cooler.
Another thing that influences boiling point is pressure. The higher the pressure the higher that temp is. This is why modern auto cooling systems are closed and pressurized. This is also why the Z radiator cap is a popular upgrade because it seals to a higher pressure (16psi vs. 13).

how much coolant should I add if i have the regular ol' prestone bottle? well, how much of the bottle should I add?
