: ran over a skunk, car reeks now
playatx99 08-07-2002, 12:42 AM the other night i accidently ran over a skunk(i didnt see it until i had already run over it:eek: ) it went under the tire, and i could smell it horribly:rolleyes: i changed the wheels and tires b/c i bought a set of b14 wheels, but now, whenever i leave the car sitting for a long time, the interior smells like skunk.... any ideas where the smell could be coming from?
JimmyNX2000 08-07-2002, 01:12 AM no offense, i gotta say this, but in the fashion of Peppy Le Pue, i gotta say:
LE PUE!!
:D
Benny Boy 08-07-2002, 01:33 AM I ran over one last year in my LS400 on my way to Kansas to see my brother graduate from college. Talk about a big stink. You at least get to get out of the car from time to time... I drove for 3 1/2 hours straight after I hit the fucker! :D
Ben
RySE-R 1 08-07-2002, 01:49 AM That's funny because today I actually hit one of those suicidal birds that like to fly right in front of your car. Why do birds like to fly right in front of cars when they could just FLY over them? Do other birds DARE them to do it for a thrill?
Anyway, I head him hit my grill, then he must have just writhed in pain compressed against my grill, because about five seconds later he finally managed to break free and fly away again. Poor sucker prolly will look both ways next time if he lives to fly again:D
playatx99 08-07-2002, 02:03 AM i just soaked the interior with febreeze and left it in the garage with the windows open, so we shall see in the morning

I tried it too... you're just gonna get a smell of febreeze and skunk together. The skunk smell is so dominant, you wouldn't belive it. Took a week and half to get it out of the Lexus.
Ben
NismoSER 08-07-2002, 09:03 AM well, it would make sense to me since you ran over the skunk with your wheels and tires, to spray the outside of the car with febreeze.
I know that sounds weird, but that's where the smell is coming from. Try bringing your car to an automatic car wash and get the undercarriage power washed. The skunk's spray is on the outside of your car, unless you personally stomped on the skunk and wiped ur feet off on the seats. :p
DubuRX 08-07-2002, 09:10 AM HAHAHAHahahaHHAHAhahahahAHAHAHAHahaa..... lol:D :D :D
Buckwilly 08-07-2002, 03:01 PM OMG...that bird actually flew away...hehehehee. I dont think anything will totally clean skunk up. Like the lex dude said..it will be gone in about a week. That is how long it took my buddies car to clear up. I say wash the sumbitch a few times and dont go out cruising for girls till its gone. Cops also might think you are carrying the motherload of Kind Bud in your trunk with that skunky smell.
Toolapcfan 08-07-2002, 03:08 PM I'd keep spraying it with Febreeze until it dissipates. It might take some time but it'll go away on it's own. When I was still living at home, we had a skunk that lived under the overhang of the house and that fucker sprayed under there a couple times and man, it was weeks before the house didn't reek of it. But the smell eventually went away on it's own. We hit a skunk in the motor home on the way up to canada once when I was little, it sucked, because like Ben had to do, we had to drive for another 6-8 hours enduring the smell. Never had a headache like that one since.
tommy 08-07-2002, 03:09 PM Is the smell only there when you are in the car?
Are you sure it wasn't there before?
j/k ;)
Your car stinks, dude. Time to sell it....to me.
james vick 08-07-2002, 03:51 PM Hey Parker did it stinkup your dad's garage?:p
vladha 08-07-2002, 04:54 PM You know, it's entirely possible you've got part of his ass gland stuck somewhere underneath. The smell will never go away unless you power clean under there.
Reminds me of the punchline of an old joke: "Who shit the Christmas tree?"
Later,
Mark
brian 08-07-2002, 05:46 PM ya, I ran over a dead one when I was like 16 intentionally and it few all over my car, it smelled for months, every time it got hot, it smelled. it was funny :) (it was an 84 sunbird though, that is why it was funny. the skunk was probably worth more than the car :) )
playatx99 08-07-2002, 09:45 PM yeah, you guys are right, today it just smelled like SWEET skunk:rolleyes: lol i didnt even see the skunk, but matt pulled up next to me and started going crazy about how i had just killed a skunk, and then i smelled it:( its out in plano and he has driven by "the victim" a few times and always tries to put me on a guilt trip.... oh well, time for a power wash
Sunder 08-07-2002, 11:06 PM Just remember this whenever you feel pained that your pride and joy stinks.
The Skunk probably feels worse about it.
I really can't help myself, you'll have to forgive me, but when all these people said that putting Skunk2 parts on your ride would make it go faster, I'm not sure this is what they meant.
:D
