Hi All,

Today i recieved my HKS GT3037 52T 0.73, now i have the job of fitting it to the standard GTIR manifold, Thing is the compressor outlet faces the wrong way and also the turbine housing is situated so that the oil drain will not sit directly below the turbo, I pressume the oil drain needs to be as straight towards the floor as possible due to gravity being the only thing pulling oil out of the turbo(is this correct)? Do these turbo have oil seals as they are ball bearing someone mentioned they are different in this department somehow?

Finally is it ok to just slacken the housing bolts and turn the housing without causing problems later? Both compressor and turbine need moving.

Cheers

Yes, you can loosen the bolts and turn the housings. You can remove either the turbine or the compressor housing without affecting balance of the turbo. Just don't take off the compressor wheel.

Be a little careful not to ding or bend the blades when you take the housings off.

The oil drain should be as close to verticle as possible, but there is a +/- 30 degree variation that is acceptable.

I just loosened the bolts rotated the compressor and mounted on manifold. Then i put the manifold and turbo on car, with the bolts still loose enough to turn the center section, i rotated it so that the oil return lined up perfect.

Got my money back from darkside racing and went to RRE and put 140 on top of it to get the Denso 660's. I couldn't pick up the EGT gauge *** I'll have to wait till next week. I got it tuned till about 3rd gear (only goin of 02 voltage) Launches real good and pulls to 18psi real good. :D Now if I can just find the vacume leak I got it should be all good. Haven't got to race anyone with it yet. Want to see if the motor is tired. (128k) it better not be damn mitsus haha.
