Heres the problem. When my DRL's are on only 1 side works. I have searched and know all about the crappy DRL module for the NX's. So i decided to fully disconnect the little brown box in the drivers side kick panel. The DRL's were off and from the looks of things everything looked great....until I turned on my full low beams, only one side came on!!!:squint:

So I looked for a DRL relay or something. A buddy of mine looked at the FSM's and noticed a relay for the 92ish+ B13's had relays....but 1991 didnt! This is fcuking bullsh!t:mad:

So can someone give me ideas to disable my DRL's? I dont want to start cutting 1 of the 18 wires that go into the module, lol. I want them off because I'm thinking about going with a HID unit and I know its not good for the ballasts to be always on.

Thanks!

Ya, it became mandatory in Canada to have them in the 1990's. Crap system

on some Toyota's, they're a DRL module. IIRC, if you ground the module to the chassis DRL is disabled.

man that sucks.. I dont suppose you have a canadian FSM for your car do you?

Canadian and US FSM are the same. I'm looking it up for him but need some help in figuring out the wiring diagram.

what help needed? What page is it in FSM?

BTW I noticed some differences occasionally in US FSM's and Canadian cars. Cant recall what, but occasionally there are ummmm weird things not the same in these B13s.

It would make a good little writeup. My *second* DRL module appears to be not working anymore, although this time I still have both headlights. Sounds like a good idea to just wire bypass them altogether and be done with it. But IIRC the wiring was sort of complex for DRL as they tied it into some other systems?

Page EL-42 on the FSM (92 model year).

We're trying to figure out how to by-pass the DRL's and find out why only one of his headlights turns on. So far, unplugging the DRL module is not the solution.

This seems to be tougher than I thought...there has to be some wiring experts here

Can you post up those diagrams? I only have FSMs for 93 and 94 B13s/

In the meantime grab a junkyard DRL module off any B13 I am pretty sure they would all work(?) but need to compare the diagrams./

It does look fairly involved to delete the system. I will say though that once I thought the DRL was dead but actually I did need to change my bulb ;)

I am scratching my head looking at the 93 FSm diagram. Is it the left or the right one that only goes on? Maximas had this problem too IIRC

Ya the Maximas had the same problem. Its the drivers side that doesnt come on when engaged.

I found this for ya homie....I think I'll do it myself...gotta figure it, check the FSM diagram for that and see if the logic applies...but its a start

http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=38435&highlight=disable+DRL

The salient point is this: "This idea came to me because when the parking brake is apply (pull) before to start the car, the daytime light WON'T turn on. So, the easiest way to disable the daytime light are to fake the DLCU by let him think the parking brake is always apply. That way, headlight will work as usual without the daytime light when everything else is off. Also, after the mod, your "brake" cluster warning light will still be fully functional and operate as normal."

Thanks man....but when I throw up my e-brake....they stay on:( So im not sure this would apply to our module

hmm. When I start my car and release the e-brake, the lights come on. When the DRL is activated, even if you set the brake it won't shut them off, that is normal - they will only deactivate when the car is turned off again.

I think the PRINCIPLE of what that guy did applies to our car, but the specifics maybe not. On page 2 of that link theres a wiring diagram, looks like they dont have a brown DRL relay in the mix, just the brown DRL system box.

If you could save (save as...or scan) the page out of your FSM with the diagram on it and put it up we could look at it.

But I think that if your car doesn;t have the relay it will make this mod even easier to do. Our parking brake signal wire is even light green, same as B15. Its just that for my diagram, I lose track of it when it gets to the relay.

I just went out to check my car. My DRL's havent been going on when I start and drive; but my headlights work fine. Weird ghosts in the machine.
