I used to strip the front crossmember bolts but now it is only the one left rear that keeps getting stripped. I know it is because I am going up too much with it so I only turn it till it stops. What are the torque specs for these bolts? I used the tap and die on the thread and it seemed to help a bit. Any help is appreciated. Also on the second bolt I used I forgot to put the plastic sleeve on out of fustration of stripping the first bolt. Will the sleeve really be any concern? I am doing a clutch later this year so I will order three more "just in case".

I did my motor mounts a couple of months ago, so had to remove the crossmember. If I remember correctly, the torque specs are 35-40 ft/lbs. As far as the plastic sleeves, I crushed 2 of them. When I tried to order extras, the Nissan parts person couldn't even find them listed('91 Classic). So I'm just guessing that they're not that important... someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Hope this helps, later,
Mark

D00d, I've been driving a while with only one front crossmember bolt in. Is that bad? I, too, stripped it when I did my motor mounts. Might have to try the tap and die with a new bolt when I have the time.
