ok, so i've gotten this far..

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/UsaPride20/head.jpg

ok i found the tightening sequence for a sr20de, it should be the same for a gtir shouldnt it? and just use the reverse order to take it off.

7 - 3 - 1 - 5 - 9
8 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 10, to tighten it? (top row and bottom row..)

also, while im doing this is there anything else i should replace? i was going to get a valve cover gasket, intake manifold gaskets, was maybe thinking of doing the ARP head studs (thoughts?)

i saw the coolant leaking out of the head gasket area..could this also be another reason why my aem tru boost was not reading more then 6 psi?

thanks everyone for all ur help =] was about to part this motor out n get rid of it lol. hasn't ran for me since september :(

oh: also was going to take it to a machine shop to check to make sure the head is still level.

ok NOW thank you for all ur help lol

Do yourself a favor and find a fsm to download (phat20 and here if your a contributer).

The sequence should be the same (as in the order) but I don't think the torque values are the same because the GTI-R has thicker head bolts and other stuffs.

From my GTI-R FSM it says to loose the head bolts in 2 or 3 steps (same with the DE) the order is opposite the installation sequence here:

Now for all you monkeys reading, This page is GTI-R specific so don't go messing up your Sr20de's by following these instructions.

make sure you baggy and label where every rocker and shim go, aswell as cam caps.Everything must got back the way it came out, gti-r heads are very touchy with there valve lash tolerences.

mike pretty much hooked you up with all the info but from a personal experience when i rebuilt my engine i used a stock head gasket for one and yes i used arp gti-r head studs just make sure you get the right ones, you can call greg v if you cant find them yourself. if you had a coolant leak then yes i would put the head on a strait edge to make sure its ture and straight.

thank u so much! :) and i made sure i labeled everything, because i noticed the inside bolts are smaller and inside bolts are longer..so made sure everything was bagged and tagged

ty both!
