You have the 21-444 cai, right?
Do you mean a hose coming off the intake tube and where it connects in the engine bay
or
a hose from the engine bay that isn't connected to the intake tube?
What size is it?

its a hose coming off the lower peice of the intake tube, with nowere to connect too in the engine.

That is still a vague description.

There are three hoses.
One goes to the valvecover. It comes off the front of the intake tube and is very obvious. AEM supplies a piece of replacement hose for this one. I don't know why as the replacement hose doesn't have a brush in it like the OEM.
Two is a very small diameter hose that connects to the EGR valve and EVAP cannister purge control solenoid valve. It comes out of the back side of the intake tube and connects with the grommet. The valve is to the left of the EGR vale, behind the intake manifold.
Three goes to the IACV-FICD solenoid valve. It runs from right to left in the engine bay, on the backside of the head, ending up at the opposite end. Long hose. It may be hiding under or behind the intake manifold.

Which hose is coming off of the intake pipe and what are it's dimensions? What did you do with the hose piece AEM included?

Its the hose on the lowest portion of the intake it's the hole in the intake tubing right near the part of the tube which goes threw the enlarged fenderwell.

That doesn't look anything like the one I got.
Are you sure you got the 21-444 for the 94 lowport?
It almost looks like you got one for a highport from the bends. Or even another vehicle.
I have no idea where that hose would go on either engine. It might be for the AIV on a highport, I know the AIV connects to the header, but I don't know where the other connections from the AIV end up.
What do the directions say?

My cai tubes look like this.
These are pics of martin_g34s 99 sel.

The lower intake tube has no hoses coming off of it.

That's for a high port motor. The hose that connects to the valve cover looks like its almost pinched off. The hose you are taking about it for the AIV sysem, which you do not have. You were sent the wrong intake.

wow... i thought there was somthing wrong with it. they send me the 91-92 intake, it was also the wrong color. is there anything i have to worry about having this intake on my car?

Probably just the emmissions hoses. As Eric pointed out, the valve cover one looks kinked. You would also have to plug the AIV hole.

It might also flop around. The 21-444 has two nice brackets that bolt it solidly to the car. I don't know what yours came with.

Why can't you send it back?

here's some pics of it i took today. i taped off the hole in the lower portion of the intake tube, making sure no air could get through and also pic of the tube that looked kinda crinched.. im not sure how bad it is and if i should do somthing about it, i couldnt get the tube on without it folding slightly like that.

Honestly... it looks like it still fits perfectly.
although you hacked the crap out of that hole... I would take that other hose, split it on one side, and put it between the intake and the metal to protect the intake.

its bolted in place i dont really see it moving much, the hole had to be cut bigger so the tubing could fit cause it didnt go down into it right it came in on an angle to get it on.

Hey; My hs cai has a hole in the adapter plate where the secondary pipe goes. It idled really high, and stuttered. I did the same thing with tape, and never thought about it again. You should be okay.
I see you did the 180 MAF twist. I definitely felt an increase in the mid-range from this. Cheers ~Ben

what exactly do u mean everything ended up just on that way.

What he means is that the blackbox part of the MAF was on the other side originally. That the MAF has been turned 180*.
Supposedly, flipping the MAF puts the wire in a new location(true) and it gets different flow which results in an increase in performance. (true??)
I did it when I put my HS in just so the blackbox wouldn't be seen. I can't say it gave me more performance, but you never know.

Ben-

I believe the hole in the adapter plate was for the airtemp sensor.

Yeah that'swhat I meant Peter. Thanks for clarifying. I did the MAF twist after having the cai on a few weeks. This was the only change made at the time. My butt dyno says thumbs up.
I have another hole in my adapter besides teh one for the air temp sensor. It's like the one on 420's secondary in the pic. Maybe for high ports I dunno. Works fine with some tape covering it.

If NM ever gets a FWD dyno, I think I will do a before and after. Certainly wouldn't take any time to twist it between runs.:)

is there any negatives to having it in this way that u would wanna put it back?
