: Waiting to shift

I find myself waiting an extra second or two when shifting because the car feels like its needs that second to get in gear. If I install the ES torque inserts and the shifter bushing will I no longer need to wait in between shifts? If not what else can I do to alleviate this problem. Its just becoming a real PITA. Thanks

Derek

why would it need a second to shift? does it grind or crunch?

It just feels like its takes a second to get in gear. No grinding or crunching, but if I let the clutch out too soon, the engine/tranny clunks (I know thats not the best description, but its all I could think of).

dude to me that sounds like you need a new clutch. My old cars clutch was going and it was doing something similar. Sounds like your clutch is slipping.

my classic did that before i put in the es mounts & shifter bushings. i would pretty much bet that you are descibing the same thing. some times my car felt like it wouldn't go into 2nd unless you rev match.

My god, that is the longest signature I have ever seen...

I just replaced my clutch this past weekend (JWT PP, 2k disc, all seals, cable, TO bearing, and clips), so I'm hoping its not the clutch. It felt the same way on my old clutch that was really worn out, which is why I was thinking its the mounts and/or the shifter bushing. If I rev match, the car acts better, but it still "clunks" a little.

doe sit do it when its cold and warm outside....have you tried that out? It might just be hot. My clutch acts funny in the heat, not terrible but not as nice as when its under 85 degrees.

It does it when its cold or hot. Its pretty consistent when I'm driving it. When I let the clutch pedal out, the clutch grabs just fine, but if I'm shifting too fast or letting the clutch out too fast is when it clunks.

clunking=bad mounts. almost all the time. grab you a set of es bushings and while you are at it a shifter bushing. total cost should be right around 50-60 bucks with shipping. 30 mins to an hour total time from jack up to jack down id bet.

Just ordered the ES inserts as well as the shifter bushing. While I was at it I went ahead and ordered the OEM liquid filled mount and the drivers side mount that attaches near the fender and the tranny (rear mount?). Thanks for all your help guys. Hopefully my car will be like new when I get them in.

Hey se-rious, how's your 11.5 compression engine running? Does it ping? What's your 1/4 mile time with that?

doesn't ping at all, JWT did the ecu reprogramming for 11.0:1, but Ben at JWT told me it will work on a c.r. up to 11.5:1. everything is running fine, but the motor isn't broken in yet.
