I am having my head resurfaced and was curious if when I have the machine shop do that should I do a valve job? The machine shop said he can resurface the head and give me the 3 angle valve job for $175.00 Also, would there be anything else I can do while I am in there? (without being too expensive? like porting and polishing my head?) Thanks fellas

I forgot to mention that I am getting a T25 kit from JGY, if that matters.

Since you have the head off you might as well do it. Why don't you get the head ported and polished right away?

I will do the valve job but wasn't sure about the porting and polishing. I was told that a NA car gains from this but a turbo doesn't because it is forced injection anyways. I don't know shit about turbos yet so I wasn't sure if this is true or not. I dont want to spend the $ on it if there is no gain. ?????????

not true actually a turbo can benefit from an apearingly bad flowing head for NA. opening up the intake with little pocket ports helps a turbo just fine, but this sort of thing doesnt work too good on 4cyl alum. heads for NA. 5 angle grinds and pocket ports work for old v8s with iron heads. 3 angle is good for newwer heads

Should I have to ask for a certain amount ported, a special kind of port, or will these guys just know what to do?

take it someplace that does a lot of import heads and has a good reputation for it.

there is a real good place in LA, CA. if you're not around here you would have to send it, the basic job from them is 800 i think and you can go all out for 1800 or so.

msg me if you want more info

Damn, that is too expensive for me right now.. I had no idea it would cost that much. I'll have to pass on that. I guess I will just get the valve job and call it good. Thanks for the info though.
