Well I was debating on whether or not to post this to the forum. I was thinking about just getting it fixed and keeping it to myself. So here goes...

Got my car running really strong. Decided, hey why not take it to the track? So I did. Head up to the track that's about 1 1/2 hrs north of me. Get ther with ease, cars still running like a champ. Go through tech, hook up my bottle blanket, and into the lanes I go. There was a mishap on the track so I had to wait about 45mins before I got my run. Spoke with another Nissan owner for most of it. So then it's time to run. I get lined up with a 95 240sx. Lightly modded. So now it's time.. Lights go down, and I'm off. Had a o.k. launch, didn't get too much wheel spin, snatch second, hit the switch. Now I'm hauling ass. Look back I'm leaving the 240 like he's sitting still. Hit 3rd Moving right along now.. Go to hit 4th BANG!!!! FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWK! Hit 2nd... Coast to the end of the track. And proceed to use many vulgar words, while beating the crap out of my steering wheel.

So there I am sitting there steam rolling out of my ears, my buddy gets there about an hour later (so it seemed) And begin the walk back up to the track. One of my friends had AAA so we call them up. Well he has the BASIC plan. 5 Miles towing $2.50 each mile after that. FAWK! Just then it dawns on me. Another friend who was in West Palm Beach (about 3 hours south) Has the premium membership. So I call him up and he starts heading up so I can use his card. WHAT A GUY! About that time the tow truck showed up for the car, under the other guys plan. So I walked up to the truck and kind of explained to the guy what I was doing. Man the tow truck driver ROCKED! We get down to my car, and he says. Well there's no need for your buddy to drive all the way up here, I'll just say you showed me the card!! HELL YEAH! So hitched it up and headed home. Got home about 2am.

So yesterday I take the VC off to get a damage report. Here it is.. Broke 5 out of 8 rocker arms. Easy fix. Now here's the bad news. One of my valve springs started to come off. I don't know how the hell it happened but I guess when the rockers exploded on got wedged against the spring and knocked one of the retainers off. There's still another on the valve. And it's lodged about 1/4 of the way into the spring. So I call up the MAN. Andreas Miko... Long story short. I'm renting a car dolly today, and taking it to his shop tomorrow morning. (it's about a 2 1/2 drive.) So hopefully he can resolve it. And MAYBE JUST MAYBE. I'll be sporting the "Tuned by Andreas Miko" in the sig! I'll keep everyone posted.

Oh forgot to mention. I'll be taking my Arospeed POS shifter out next week. And buying either a OEM, or some sort of quality piece. That along with the shifter bushing SHOULD help.

Do you have any idea what went wrong? What caused this to happen?

I'm guessing it was a 3rd to 2nd downshift, instead of a 3rd to 4th upshift.

DAMN BROTHA!!!

WHAT THE HELL YA'LL SMOKIN ON DOWN THERE?!?!?

Im sorry to hear about this , yo. Maybe its time to bring the OEM shifter back. I have the B&M with bushing and it realy doesnt help miss shifting. I have miss shifted quite a bit, but I have just been lucky enough to notice it as soon as I let the clutch go.

Good Luck fixing your ride.

just reading your thread title made me laugh in that oh god i know how he feels sort of way.
that really sucks. at least you know enough about cars to find the problem. i would have just left it alone and gotten robbed because i have to depend on some guy and trust that he is not going to screw me over.

i'm so novice, and yet i can't stop thinking about what i would like to do to my car. but i got three big problems. lack of money, lack of tools, and lack of someone i know who works on cars.
i'm really the only die hard car guy i know.

anywyaz, good luck gettin your ride back in action.

i'm just a dreamer. i dream my life away!

Humm Matt I got the Pace Setter SS w/ ES Bushings and I honestly feel like my shifts are more precise.
Is the Aerospeed Unit pretty bad?

Sorry this happened Good luck!

i bought an aerospeed after trying to get a pacesetter, but the pacesetter was outta stock. well after opening the package and taking a look at it. compared to every other short shifter (even stock piece); it looks like it would bend, or break very easily.

I have the OBX w/ about a 4.5'' cut on it. It shifts hard, but thats just because I have a SUPER short shifter. I am thinking about buying a different one and maybe cutting a little less off of it.
