: Keyless entry/Alarm on B14 HELP!
Soupaflie 08-09-2002, 01:06 PM A friend just called me from a parking lot. He went into the store locked his 200 with the remote fob. When he came back out the fob would not unlock the car. he opened it with the key, the alarm went off and the car will not start. Any idea's on how to get the car to start? Or what to do in this situation. I told him let the alarm go off, disconnect the battery for 20 minutes then hookup the battery to see if it will start. Would that work?
myUsername 08-09-2002, 01:55 PM Is this with the factory alarm? If it is, that's weird. If I lock my doors with the fob and unlock it with the keys, the alarm doesn't go off. The only way the alarm is set off is by unlocking it from the inside or by force entry. Try unplugging the battery and make sure all the doors, hood, and trunk are tightly closed before plugging it back in.
Soupaflie 08-09-2002, 02:02 PM This is with the factory alarm. I thought it sounded strange too. I just walked out to my car and tried it. I locked it with the fob then unlocked it with the key and the alarm didn't go off. Could a aftermarket alarm be controlled by the factory nissan fob?

My brother's Rodeo has a Viper aftermarket alarm. The aftermarket and factory alarms are 2 different units. If he locks it with the aftermarket fob and opens it with the factory fob, the aftermarket alarm goes off. Same thing with the factory fob...if factory fob was used to lock it, and aftermarket fob was used to unlock it, the factory alarm goes off.
eric96ser 08-09-2002, 02:29 PM Shut all doors, and lock, then unlock the driver's door with the key. This should reset the system.
subhuman 08-09-2002, 04:47 PM I have a viper alarm and wasn't aware of the factory alarm (thought the security light was just for show...I'm not the orig owner..) The two alarms were interfering with each other, so I took it back where I had it installed and within a few minutes the guy had the factory alarm being controlled by the viper...Haven't had a problem since..If he gets an aftermarket alarm installed, just make sure he mentions the factory alarm...

Will this stop the alarm from going off?
I was the one who called sean btw...it was quite embarrassing...i had to disconect the negatyive battery cable for about a half hour. I was QUITE pissed off....come to find out its a radio tower that was messing with my keyfob. Anyways i figured Id replace the batteries while i was at it...now my keyless doesnt work...does anyone know how to reprogram the system so that it works again?
this has been a nightmare of a day...I ccant lock my car either cause i have no keyless and i dont wannahave to deal with the negative battery thing again....oh to top it all off im in Virginia for the weekend.....yeah tell me about it
socalser1 08-17-2002, 10:21 PM when i bought my 200sx,a wk later while i was while i was walking to the back door at wk i forgot something and my drivers window was down so i unlocked it from the inside and set off the alarm( which the $tealership didnt tell me about) so i called them up and got the alarm reprogrammed and a new key fob for free.
sr20ser1997 08-17-2002, 11:18 PM Hmm.. seeing this post has made me wonder.. I have a b14 with keyless entry and a security light.. Does this mean I have a factory alarm? I have never heard it go off but I did notice a horn in the passenger side fenderwell.. Is there anyway to test to see if I have the alarm or make sure it still works if I do have it.. (I also thought the security light was just for looks).
B_baker03 08-18-2002, 01:48 PM try removing all of the alarm fuses and replacing them all

Why did you need it to be reprogrammed? Didn't turning off the alarm work?

How do I make it go off or test it? I've had the car for 1.5years and have never heard it (except when I hit the panic button)

roll windows down
lock car from outside
reach in car and unlock door without using the power lock switch
listen for neighbors to start yelling at you to turn it off
when you hear that hit the lock button to stop it from going off
Unrelated to the wquote above but I think my switch in my door is bad is why this keeps happening. I also cannot reprogram my remote...do you think it has to do with the switch being bad in the door?

sorry bro dont know what to tell ya
WickedSR20 08-19-2002, 09:32 PM Hope this helps out.
The factory alarm is switched on and off with two wires located under the dash, an arm and a disarm wire, both of which are negative (-) pulse triggered. The OEM remotes send the same negative pulse as unlocking/locking the driver's side door does. Temporarily unsure of the colors at the moment, but the way I wired my alarm is since the door locks are also negative pulse, I added a pair of relays to the door lock/unlock circuit so that when my aftermarket alarm arms, it arms the factory alarm also, and vice versa when it disarms. This gave me two added benefits. For one, I could add glass breakage sensors (the main reason I added another alarm since some yahoo broke my side window 2 wks. after I got it) and interior motion sensors to the aftermarket alarm that couldn't be added to the OEM alarm. And two, when I put the aftermarket alarm in valet and use the aftermarket alarm remote, it will still kick the OEM alarm on and off just like before the install. To me, the best of both worlds. Any SE-R should have an OEM alarm, as to the best of my knowledge, it's an option in the SE-R trim package and cannot be deleted (I tried to buy mine without the OEM alarm and couldn't). If anyone needs the wire colors, I can get them if needed.

You have to wait at least 20 seconds (or is it 30?) after you engaged the alarm before you unlock your door from the inside.
