you go through cars like i go through hockey sticks.
Raverjames21 06-22-2008, 06:53 PM I have to ask a few questions to help people looking at this. I owned a 93 for a few years (and a few g's worth of repairs).
Was the oil pump ever replaced?
Is the output shaft 18 spline or 24 spline? Has it been replaced? Have the splines been regularly lubed?
Is the transfer case original? Has it ever been resealed or inspected for cracks? Recall?
Has the ECU been serviced or checked for cap leaks?
Does the engine have the common ticking valve issue? (not a big deal cause they all do it, but it can be annoying)
How is the drive shaft? Have you done the wobble ? (try to move it side to side with your hands to see if the bearings and seals are holding up)
Is the suspension in good shape? The stock ECS was prone to failure.
How old are the turbos? Do they have any whine?
Is the stock boost controller in place and does it still work?
Is the clutch booster original?
I think that about covers it. Don't think I am trying to hurt your sale. If you have most of the items addressed, then your car should sell really fast. Please understand that these cars are not a simple and cheap toy. They are complicated and delicate machines. If properly taken care of, they will make the owner very happy. However, if they are not in the hands of an experienced Mitsu person, they will be ready to go to the junk yard in no time at all. Mine caused me so many problems (thank you previous owner), but it was a fun car.
sc2pwr 06-22-2008, 08:29 PM The car runs and drives mint with no problems. The previous owner did a lot to it. I bought it a few months ago and I have hade my fun but I NEED to slow down or carma will catch up with me. I also hade the car go through Mitshubishi and made sure it hade no major problems before i purchased. It does have the slight tick from the valves cover but thats a 1g lifter problem. Mitshubishi said it would need motor mounts (I changed to solid), axle seal , (they changed) , and a outer tie rod with an alingment (they changed). Other then that they said it was 100% and looks very clean and was a good buy. If any one wants to bring this car to a mechanic of there choice I will pay for it if somthing IS wrong but other then that YOU pay for it cause its a solid car in and out. Next time please dont bash on somone's thread. Just cause YOU hade problems does not mean I did or will to the next guy. Thanks and pics will be up soon.

I don't see any place where I bashed the car. I asked questions completely relevant to the common problems on a 3S. It doesn't have anything to do with my issues. There are certain things that need to be watched and addressed on this type of vehicle or it will fail. It is not a matter of if these things will fail, but when they will fail. They are awesome cars that no other vehicle can come close to as far as performance, comfort, and technology. However, they are not a good car for someone that does not know how to service them. The OS spline needs lubed every 35k, the oil pump needs changed every 100k, the clutch booster tends to go out around 100k, the turbos tend to go out around 100k, and the transfer case will crack/leak with the right amount of shock and stress. It does sound like you got one of the 3S cars that has been taken care of and serviced properly. However, possible buyers should know that they were $35k sport cars when sold new (1992) and they cost as much as a $35k car to repair. Good luck on the sale and I hope this car goes to an owner that knows how to properly care for it. I hate to see a decent 3S go to some kid that just wants to abuse it.
sc2pwr 06-23-2008, 02:24 PM Ok maybe at the time I was kinda wondering what you where doing on my thread but... Now I see your point. I feel that this car was taken car of. I'm the 2nd owner as I should add. I'm taken pics right now and should be up soon. Thanks

GreekPower 06-28-2008, 01:24 AM Hmm I posted on here last night but guess its gone now, are you on 3si at all? Looks clean who did the work on the engine and who repainted it? why did you change the headgaskets?(not a very common problem), also wheres the stock spoiler? also your car is sitting at more like 320hp with the dp and one psi increase in boost which is about 230-240 to the wheels. 320hp is for newer models that run 11psi yours came stock with 9psi

What 3S did you own? I think if someone from this forum wants to buy this, they should join 3Si. The members over there are great guys. Hell, the one guy I met on there from SW PA actually drove to Morgantown several times and helped me get my Stealth back on the road.
GreekPower 06-28-2008, 01:12 PM I've had a few but right now I have a 91 rt/tt. just some 15g's GTPRO fuel, stand alone etc. I was having IPS build me a 3.5 with single but moneys kinda iffy so its on hold right now.
I think the guy you are referring to might be krazi or stealthee (brian) both are good guys. PA crew is small but we know out shit and all our turbo models run atleast 11's haha

It was Brian. Great guy. Although my TT never had a chance of hitting 11s.
