My '93 is showing some wear on the bottom of the rocker panels where the black paint is at---looks like ruberized undercoating. My car is burgendy and that black is coming off/fading a lot. I have a few options and would like to see what you guys think...

1.) Take off the black ruberized undercoating stuff and leave it burgendy like the rest of the car.
2.) Take off what's there and get it real clean and then spray it with ruberized undercoating again to make it look even and one color.
3.)Take off what's there and paint it flat black.

I like the idea of the black being there and I also like the idea of the ruberized undercoating to protect from rocks. However, I want to hear what you guys think. I plan to take this on tomorrow.

Thoughts?

I would go the undercoating route. I would also advise against the use of ruberized undercoating from the spray can from autozone, pep-boys, etc. This stuff will start to shread very easily, its great for sound-deadening, but not for what you will use it for. Try the "Rhino-Liner" truckbed coating. It will be at least 2x stronger/durable, and it lasts for years! That's just my .02,

I hadn't thought about that stuff, thanks! I wonder how much it costs. Because my car is only driven locally and on the track---never in the winter. I would have to bet the ruberized stuff would be fine. However, why chance it when I could put that stuff on and never worry about it!
