: N/a De Intake Tell Me What You Guys/girl Racers Think
ALLMOTORSENTRA 08-10-2002, 07:01 AM Please go to my web page and click on the allmotormods at the bottom of the page. This might take a minute to load but i wanted to let the n/a fellas now about this trick.I picked up about a tenth or two and 3 mph with this mod it could be better but i havent tweeked it yet . The most improvement is 5th gear accel on the highway . I was doing about 85mph down the highway when a H came up along side he just sat there revving it up then my lane was gonna be blocked so he tried to pull ahead so i couldnt pass him well i put it to the floor and drove right past him while he down shifted and couldnt keep up it was awsome. He let me now he wasnt laughing by pulling into the slow lane doing about 55 so he didnt have to attempt to pass me again.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS DONE BEFORE SO IF ANYONE HAS PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR SETUPhttp://www.geocities.com/allmotorsentra/
P.S. THE TOP OF THE PAGE IS MESSED UP AND I DONT KNOW WHY SORRY
P.S.S HEY BIGTOM THESE R THE PICS I TRIED TO SEND YOU I STILL HAVENT FIGURED THAT OUT YET
civicdragon 08-12-2002, 12:47 AM You mean the removal of your headlamp? How's nighttime vision with one light?
ALLMOTORSENTRA 08-12-2002, 07:05 AM I dont drive it at night. I go to and from work and to the track. To many street racing opportunities at night.
FastNX 08-12-2002, 09:12 PM have you run it at the track yet or is that just a guess? that would be awesome if you are running 13's with so few (motor) mods
cursed92 08-13-2002, 12:57 AM we have our own version on our race car. we have a car running in the se-r cup (car #21) and we have been useing an intake like yours.
Walter, from N. Cal
Sr20kidD 08-13-2002, 02:06 AM i thought it you put the maf by the tb it would mess up the sensor or something like that.. hehe.. ghetto cold air.. works for me!!! i like it.. damn.. too bad mine is daily driven or else i would do the same...
ALLMOTORSENTRA 08-13-2002, 05:31 PM Thanks i have about 35 runs on the car and 5 w/ the intake . i just installed nismo cams and ill be going to the track for import wars i 2 weeks ill keep you all posted
civicdragon 08-13-2002, 11:37 PM When i had my Integra I was gonna cut the headlamp assembly in two, to separate the two lights and use on for a cold air intake... I never got around to doing it because I aad planned on going turbo.
I was thinking of a way to do it with my 200SX, but I'm going turbo and I dont want to mess around with my lights... Although the side marker is easily romoved, I may be able to figure something out =)
ALLMOTORSENTRA 08-14-2002, 08:13 AM Hell yea you can prob cut out some of the fender supports behind the marker and route the intake , i was gonna do that w/my 99 sel but instead i ran it into the fender than out the foglight opening.
FastNX 08-14-2002, 09:38 AM in tyhe NX all you have to do is remove the foglights and a PR or HS CAI is right behind it. A litle but of cuting is all it takes to give the filter a straight shot of air
98sr20ve 08-14-2002, 10:00 AM I just realized you don't have an air filter on that car. Is it a pure drag car? On the street it could/would suck up a lot of crap wouldn't it. It would be interesting to test this mod against a normal CAI. B.T.W. great time for the mods.
ALLMOTORSENTRA 08-14-2002, 02:45 PM well your right there is no filter. I am building another motor that will use a filter so im trying to get the most out of this engine even if it means sucking up small women and children.I drive the car to and from the track and about 10miles daily.
eric96ser 08-14-2002, 03:28 PM Moving to General since this has nothing to do with an SR20VE.
dono200sx 08-14-2002, 03:50 PM For those of you who are looking for a way to retain the headlights and still get the same performance I once saw a Supra with this style CAI. What they did IIRC, was drill through the location of the highbeams straight through. IIRC, they sealed it up and the headlights worked fine. If you don't use your highbeams often, then this might be a solution for you. I don't have any specs for how much power they were pushing, but it seems to me like it would render quite an improvement as there would more than likely be less bends in the piping.

Being without a filter can cause turbulant air entering the MAF. This air will be difficult for the MAF to read and cause a reduction in torque and hp. I have seen it on a dyno. Peak numbers are about the same but hp and tq under the curve suffers.

I don't know the protical but "ALLMOTORSENTRA" and his car belongs in the "For the trailblazers and all-motor freaks" as listed under the "VE" banner on the main page. Is the VE section purely "VE" or also "VE and All-Motor freaks". Just thought I would ask.
ALLMOTORSENTRA 08-14-2002, 06:50 PM took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you

Your correct, however on a dyno your simply sucking air into engine at the track w/this setup you r not only sucking but it is being pushed, kinda like a blower, ram air. I would think if you take my car strapp it to the dyno run it,then put on a blower they use to test intercoolers(it would mount directly in front of headlight opening)now im not talkin shoving x amount of boost into the thing but a decent amount of air it would gain serious power.

It was really for SR20VE people, but if you look at the main page, I created a All Motor section. Ask and ye shall receive.

So I helped create a new section. I feel like a proud father. Can you name it after me or something.:D
