Here's the problem, two days ago my rear passenger side brake started leaking fluid. Couldn't see it dripping at the time so I thought maybe it was fine...but yesterday I started her up and drove her for like 100 feet and the brake pedal was super soft. I thought crap I've got no brakes...checked the brake fluid level and there was absolutely none in the resevoir. I pulled the wheel off today to find the problem and noticed it is leaking from the area right where the emergency brake attaches to the rear brake. The pictures below show where it is leaking from... I couldn't find any visible cracks or other signs of where or any other cause for the leaking. And yes I have done a search to see if I could figure out the problem before posting...So any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z244/srsslpr/Leakingbrake1.jpg

Man, you are halfway there.....You have already found the problem. Oh well, the first step would be to clean all that brake dust, dirt, and grim off that entire caliper. Do an ops check to determine EXACTLY where the leak is. If it is around a screw or bolt in the caliper try taking it out and putting a couple of raps of plumber's Teflon tape around the threads and see if that fixes it. If it is leaking around the piston then you will have to replace or rebuild the caliper. I haven't actually worked on rear disk brakes before so they are a little different then drums but I have had both my rear cylinders go bad on my Jetta and replaced them both.

Glad you figured it out. :biggthump The swap isn't really that hard and you could easily have it done in half a day.

dude thats crazy!!! My B15 did that exact thing like a week ago.

I was driving on some winding mountain roads and wanted to have fun, but my pedal was soft and the brakes shuddered a little. My BRAKE light had been on but I thought it was from a bad e-brake switch...LOL

I felt like a dumbass when i saw my reservoir was empty.

I took the entire caliper apart and cleaned it, reassembled and bled everythign and its been ok for a week so far.

Really random. Was this on a B15??
