I recently swapped my Primera from SR20De to SR20VE with stock 333cc injectors, MAF and TB, 16ve cams, pistons and ECU, and 16ve 5-speed tranny.
The problems are (1) hesitation in low rpm where I needed to bog way deeper on gas to go; (2) rpm cuts when reaching around 6800.
These bugged me alot, any clues on them?

Is there a check engine light on? maybe try to see if it's throwing a code like Crank Angle Sensor or Neutral saftey swtich (I'm just grabing at straws here).

Thanks for the reply.
No check engine light on, the only thing i'm sure at the moment is that it's not the ecu problem as I got my friend's 16ve ecu which still cut at around 6800 in my car.
I plan to do the easy things first by cleaning up those MAF and TPS, and check the loom, etc to relieve the hesitation problem, then check out Crank Angle Sensor. As I can start my car, so I'm not sure if it is the Neutral Safety Switch.

Well if it was the crank angle sensor it probably would have thrown the check engine light. Which distributor did you use with the swap? Did you leave in the SR20DE engine harness? you don't really have to change that when you swap the car since they are almost the same save a few pins. If it's the DE harness it might be the SR20VE distributor causing you problems.

I used both the SR20VE harness and distributor, it shouldn't have a problem, but....
I have tried to plug in the stock SR20VE ECU which works (though not perfect with hesitation problem) and rpm cuts at 7300 and the vvl is activated normally. But if using the SR16VE ECU, it cuts at 6800. So I'm puzzled.

Could be a bad ECU or the pins are different on the SR16VE ecu VS the SR20VE ecu.

For what i know, the pins are identical between SR16VE and SR20VE. Now that I have an idea on the hesitation and rpm problems. The former may be caused by uncleaned MAF and the later may be lack of speed signal to ECU.

Problem resolved, culprit's the broken speed signal wire.
