Does anybody know if the tube on the intake pipe that comes from the VC needs to have that brass pipe (with the small hole at one end) in place. I cut the hose and put it in the middle with the custom pipe I made but it looks ugly. I'd like to get rid of it.

it's the metal tube inside the rubber intake pipe that the hose goes to. all the others are standard tubes but this one has a large tube with an 1/8" hole that looks like it is needed.
I just took it out of the intake and put it in the middle of the hose temp. but it looks like S@#t.

Looks like the tube may be a newer version of the brush in the VC hose of B14s.
I believe it prevents the air flow from bringing a river of oil with it. The oil mist from the VC is supposed to turn at the T and go through the collector on the front of the block and down.
Without some kind of restriction, all the oil mist would go straight into your intake tract.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will speakup.

Maybe you could get a new hose and insert the brass tube into the middle of the hose without splicing it in?

did the pipe on the hot shot have a hole in it smaller than the pipe? because the brass piece is about 1/2" with a flat face and a 3/16" hole in the middle.

I don't know about the current HS CAIs, but my older one had a hose diameter connector welded on that you just attached the hose to. The connector was mostly filled in/solid and had a smaller diam hole drilled through it.

The brush is in the hose, right where you have the tube spliced in. The hose that goes from the VC T to the intake tract. There have been numerous posts on the mailing list about how people have thought it was there accidentally during manufacture and removed it only to put it back later.

that's what I did. i'll put it back tommorro.

that's why I left the tube in the hose.

I'll have to put the brush and the tube inside a slightly bigger hose so you can't see it.

thanks that's the info I was looking for.
