hello,

i am having a pretty annoying problem - i get no oil pressure after cold start for ~3-5 seconds. i thought that it was bad oil filter, but after i changed it, nothing got better.

i need some thoughts what can be wrong - relief valve in oil filter bracket/relief valve in oil cooler/oil pump regulator valve/faulty oil pump?
it seems that all oil gets down to the sump, so oil pump has to pump it all up again on each cold start. no oil leaks, oil pressure isn't measured, but no signs of it being low.
how can i check both relief valves?
does anybody have a picture of how this valve should look like?

any inputs appreciated.

That's normal.

That's normal.
i do not want to agree that it is normal - pretty bad bearing rattle is heard almost every time and is getting worse and worse.
i have read up that there is small clearance between oil pickup tube and oil pan, maybe it gets hard to pick up oil when it is cold and thick. must check that in first place.

it is normal for the oil pressure light to stay on for a few seconds when starting cold and the car has been sitting a while, normal for there to be a little valve train noise too

Well if you are POSTIVE you have a problem, you should probably to do something about it. Like inspect your oil pan, for dents, or hook an oil pressure gauge to it. Sludge could also cause low oil pressure.

pop your vavle cover off take your oil squirters out and clean them up.. make sure they are not clogged up...check your timing chain guide and look for scars under it.. if its bad take it off and get a new style chain tensioner.. if that does not solve the problem them maybe you have something else wrong with you car
