: Hesitation ... (again!)

Ok yes I have read all the old posts but the hesitation/flat spot/surge around 3000rpm still persists.

I have new iridium sparkies, spark leads, distributor cap & rotor, air filter, fuel filter.

Had the injectors cleaned and plugged the EGR n BPT valve also reset the ECU.

Each thing has improved it in some way or another but it still persists and is very noticeable! Moreso when cold but occasionally when warm.

Its very frustrating, any other ideas ?

You might wanna get your injectors looked at....might be faulty/leaky....o-rings could be bad.

Are your plugs the right heat range and gapped correctly (I know you just replaced them, but did you replace them with the correct ones)

If it happens more when it's cold, it could be because your plugs are fouling due to incomplete combustion due to too cold plugs or undersized gaps.

I've heard leaky vacuum lines also cause hesitation at low RPMS, but not sure how that works, so I'm not going to comment any more on that.

The plugs are NGK Iridiums and it says on the box they should not be gapped due to the fragile nature of the tip so I just left them as they are (they looked the correct spacing anyway).

Perhaps I will get the injectors looked at. Is it worth upgrading to bigger injectors on my SR20DE or would I need new ECU n stuff too ?

I am having the same freakin' problem. I've fixed so many things and it's still there. You swap out your injectors yet? Found anything else out?

i just tightened up my throttle cable (which was pretty loose) and that made some improvement for me. The problem is still there, but not nearly as bad as it was before.

try it out. make sure not to over tighten the cable as it will leave your throttle partially open all of the time. make it so the cable has approximately a quarter of an inch of travel.

hesitation occurs around 3k rpm so its not to do with the throttle cable

I had the same problem until i plugged up the egr tube going to the intake hose and the small hose going from the bpt valve to the egr also. I also put in some redline sl-1 fuel system cleaner. Both of these together is what i believe cured my hesitation.

plugged the egr and had an injector clean.....to no avail.

I plugged the EGR/BPT and car was running and bogging worse than before.

This problem only started happening recently... after i disconnected my MAF switch when changing the air filter.

Do u think it has somthing to do with disconnecting this blug while the battery is still connected?

Ive only noticed this slight bogging when the car is cold...once it warms up its fine. What else could it be?

cheers

Back before I blew my motor my car would hesitate at around 3k. It would only do it before the car was warmed up. I adjusted the timing a little bit forward (17-19deg) and ran 93 pump gas. It solved the problem.

What about the other sensor that actually goes in the filter box. Is that just dangling?? Also did you unbolt the filter from the MAF or did you just loosen the clamp and take the filter off, if you have an open filter???

ya know i noticed this helped me too..

that should help somebody figure out what the problem is!

i bet its either an injector problem or a ECU problem...

if i recall correctly, someone tried everything in the world, but when they tried an ECU from another car (still stock) it completely solved the hesitation, i know when my car comes back out im gona solve my hesitation or burn the car to the ground :D
