I was under the hood of my buddy wolfcri's newly running JDM sr20 equipped sapphire blue NX fiddling with something.

Long story short, I had a Snapon ratchet sitting on top of the battery, and of course the positive terminal didn't have the plastic cap covering it. As I grabbed it to tighten down a bolt, I grabbed it in a way that it touched both pos. and neg. terminals, resulting in LOTS of sparks and an electrified me. It even scarred the two points on the ratchet where it contacted the terminals.

everything in the car still works, except now when the car is started, it fires up to about 1000rpm, dies down to about 500 and back up once or twice then evens out to 800. It didn't do this before idiotic me decided to short the battery. What did I do and how do I fix it??

We tried resetting the idle but that didn't work. Help! :(

i pulled off my throttle body once and havent adjusted my tps yet and i got a funny idle. Maybe chaeck that the shock didnt mess up the tps. its a long shot, but just make sure you didnt fry it. Most likely not the problem. Worth a shot though.

Check all the fuses and fusable links.

I think you had that problem before. You just noticed it when this happened. Sounds like bad gas. Get some water remover and pout it in and drive it out. I sometimes get a no start and have to tap the throttle to get it to stay. Sounds like bad gas.

No, it definitely wasn't there before.

Anyway, thanks for the replies everyone. Stupid mistake by us. I now remember what I was doing under the hood in the first place. We were putting the heat shield back on and forgot to plug the o2 sensor back into the harness. Runs perfect again.

Duh. :o
