: Altima W/det vs WRX
4DoorSR 07-26-2008, 11:15 PM I raced a slightly modded WRX tonight. My car is an Altima with gtir motor at 12psi. Off the light he got me due to traction issues, but I reeled him in by 3rd and passed in 4th gear. He looked pretty surprised so we ran again. Second run I had a slightly better launch but still only passed at the top of third going into 4th. Going to the track next week to see what it runs in the quarter. Hoping for at least a 14 flat if I can drive it right.
Lookin4AClassic 07-27-2008, 12:14 AM i have a b13 with a BB Det on 10psi and i went 13.2 @ 102 on street tires...good luck at the track
its hard racing AWD cars...you always end up having to reel them in unless you make more power than them or you have slicks
PhorB13 07-27-2008, 01:18 AM The B13 is much lighter than the Altima, but depending on the year, i think Altimas have a solid rear axle? That should make launching a bit better, no?
Lookin4AClassic 07-27-2008, 04:11 AM not sure but good question....whether the cars a few hundred pounds more wont make too big of a difference..he still shouldnt have a problem going 13.50's or somewhere around there

it will take alot of practice to get good times with street tires..buy some slicks and let her rip for some 12's

Yea, I ran very similiar times with BB det...13.208@104.3 with street tires. 2.2 60ft.
I would think with the GTiR swap you should at least be able to hit mid 13s@+100
4DoorSR 07-31-2008, 07:48 PM I'll be going to the track this Saturday, so I'll let you guys know what I run. Might crank the boost up to 16psi for a couple runs and see if I can break something!! I'm going to jack the car up, and put bump stops between the coils to prevent it from squatting off the line.

...just in the back right? Yea, I did that too way back in the day :) ...every little bit helps :D Take the spare tire and jack out...maybe even pass.seat. If you have a group of people going...park together and take the seat out once you get there.
Street tires? If so, don't do a big burnout...street tires become greasy and actually lose traction. Just do a little spin to clean them and warm them up a bit.
Get some race gas too if you can. May have it at the track.
Just trying to offer some tips you may already know....good luck.
...and you may just want to run it in 'street trim' to see watchu got. :D
Have fun! Oh and leave on the third yello and focus on getting traction and shifting.

1fastser 07-31-2008, 08:41 PM You still have top mount?
Take some ice to put on the IC between runs...keep it in the bag, don't wanna be dripping water all over the track...they might frown on that :(
Turn your heater on between runs to...yea it's gonna be blazing hot, especially in Texas where I am...but it helps draw heat from the engine bay...and every little bit helps right.

I ran a 13.8@105.4mph with full interior and street tires.
Alex_se_r 08-16-2008, 11:15 AM Any one had problems with axels? For some reason I broke one and didn't even launch hard. It snapped in two. :(
turbofied 08-17-2008, 03:07 AM Yup seen people have issues with them running semi slicks though...
Preloading helps reduce the chance of breaking axels
