Steve! Great video! Great race.

This was a triumph of equipment over talent. God help us if you ever got all of your car in order.

I had such a great time. That race was as much fun as I've had on track. We really went at it. It's easy to see the different parts that we are strong/weak in. I didn't realize what a great race that you and Wade had. Great driving by both of you guys. Wade did a great job not conceding the position that he initially lost on the start.

I had never driven the hoosiers in the wet before. I had plenty of grip but I was slow in the rain b/c I didn't want to go off like Eric did. I was just glad that the track finally dried and i could use my dry setup gain some separation.

Damn that was fun. August at summit can't come soon enough.

Oh, and the Speakman 240 and the ITR BMW have a LOT of power. We beat them up pretty good in the wet, though!!

great drive, steve! ya; i'll agree, if you get your SE-R to making the kind of power the other ones make -- you'll be winning every race! awesome race, mang! :)

scott, i agree, that race was an absolute blast, the back and forth caused by the conditions made it a ton of fun, wade and I definitely had a battle for the first few laps, when he got in front of that turbo miata going into the uphill esses and i was behind the miata, i thought i would never see him again.

damn good racing, you were definitely rolling through hogpen all weekend long.

ps. I am going to start my rain dance for summit now, Todd you with me? ;-)

I don't know why I'm so much faster in Hogpen and so much slower in the esses and southbend. I think it's all confidence. The car has much more in it in southbend but I can't convince myself to brake less. If the poopoo hits the fan in hogpen I know I have an out. If it goes wrong in Southbend then theres nothing but tires on the outside and that car eating drainage grate on the inside. The condos and that damn retaining fence don't help either. One time I saw a Cobra R break an a-arm starting to go up the esses and he spun all the way to the TREES on the left. Can you imagine if that wall was there? He probably wouldn't have survived.

I had the same confidence problem in Hogpen a couple of years ago and I got past that. I was also really slow in T10 at summit (I rolled a car there) but that's improved greatly. I guess I can only fix one thing at a time :-).

I'm glad we didn't panic and dash for wets. We would have just destroyed them in the second half of the race. It rained more on us at grid than it did in the esses. Those were partially dry on the first lap.

Here's my view of the Sunday race.

part 1

part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJZBsUu8yvs

On the last lap of "part 1," the turbo Miata hits me pretty good in turn 1 on the right rear corner and nearly spins me. You can see me "drifting" through the corner after that.

Good Save! I think the wet might have helped you not spin. It looked like the whole car broke loose.

nice video, that miata definitely helped me by getting in your way ;-), except part 2 isn't available now ?

I've never seen any videos from the Speakmans but they have done a lot of racing. Search "speakman racing 240sx" on google.

Two drivers share that car and one of them is faster than the other. Honestly, I think that the car is slower than it should be no matter who is driving. Those guys are better builders than drivers in my opinion (no offense intended to the Speakmans, they build a damn good car). They sold a B13 SE-R to Eric a few years ago and It put 175 to the WHEELS (I think th engine was "stock"). Every time I see that 240SX in grid, I have no idea what to expect. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's not.

I can get a great run out of a corner and still get dusted in the straights by that thing. That power along with the RWD and all of the suspension mods should make that car a killer.

Also, the BMW in that video is an ex-SCCA ITR car. It's MUCH faster than it's being driven as well. It's not unusual to have over 200whp.

Thanks! I hope I get my tires before the event this month. That way I can go ahead and get them scrubbed in for October.
