: AD22vf conversion.....
qinsac 08-12-2002, 10:21 PM I have look thru out SR20DE forum for info on this conversion and did not see any info on the below.
What is the difference between a USA made caliper and a Japan made caliper from a 91-94 NX2000? I'm planning on do this conversion but I need some help (technical).
I called Kragen and Pep Boys (West Coast auto parts) to get numbers. They asked, was the car made in Japan or the USA. Does it matter? Also I'm researching Goodrich Steel Braided Brake lines, if I order the lines for SE-R ,will they fit the NX2000 calipers????
Cost. I call Autogator here in Sacramento, they said they get me the calipers for $75 to $100 used. Pep Boys and Kragen can get for it for me between $50 to $75 remanufacted. I'm I getting raped or what? Please advise.

scmser 08-12-2002, 10:53 PM *** NX2000 are the AD22vf. Get the reman caliper, return your stock ones as cores. They won't know the difference. Get a set of Carbotech pads to go with your new brakes. Stopping will never be an issue for you.

Not quite.
You need to order 91/92 NX2000 loaded remanufactured calipers (if you don't get loaded, you don't get the all-important torque member) for an ABS equipped car. If you don't, you might not get the right thing. All of the aftermarket brake catalogs have major errors for the Sentra/NX.

Same goes for the rotors? Right?

If they ask USA or JAPAN made, ask for the Japan made. Some places have it listed diffrently.

OnyxEros 08-13-2002, 10:02 PM Look for japanese made everything in terms of rotors. The US made ones are only for the SE-R look over at se-r.net and do a search for loaded calipers, better yet do that same search here and you will get a list of part numbers by respective manufacturers
go to a website (www.global4autoparts.com) any website that sells calipers and just enter in the numbers
wait for UPS guy
sign off
open box
rejoice
put on car
check fluids
break in
brake hard!!

Odd. I know we've covered it before.

I think others have covered it. To summarize: USA=SE-R (small), Japan=NX2000 (big). Get loaded calipers and rotors for an NX2000. AD22VF will be stamped on the calipers. Rotor dimension is 257mmX26mm.
Also I'm researching Goodrich Steel Braided Brake lines, if I order the lines for SE-R ,will they fit the NX2000 calipers????
Yes. All 4 wheel disc B13 cars use the same lines.
Please advise.
Look online. I payed $50 each after core return. My calipers were competely loaded remanned calipers with pads and the very important mounting bracket (the SE-R bracket will not work).
Insane PSI 08-14-2002, 08:58 AM Isnt there the issue of using the brake master cylinder from the NX also? I thought I read that somewhere.
AaroNX 08-14-2002, 09:48 AM Even my local Nissan Dealer asked US or Japan when I bought new pads. You have to tell them Japan, hell thats where mine was made anyway. My car is a 93 with ABS. Definately stops very nice.

You must tell them ABS. Simply telling them NX is not enough. For starters, not all NXen came with the AD22VF brakes. The brakes were part of a "sport" package or something like that. Apparently all 91/92 had this package. For sure not all the 93 did. Also, the problem is with the cataloging. There are only a couple of cataloging companies in the US and they all have this wrong, and IIRC the fiche may be wrong as well.
Specifying ABS is the only sure way to get what you need. The rotor size Matt lists is correct and all of the catalogs I've seen will list that.

OK, just to reiterate.....
Ask for 91/92 Japanese built NX2000 with ABS.
BTW, I'm the guy who was the first to figure this out and do this. OK, perhaps someone else not in the on-line community figured it out before me, but no one would know. You don't often hear my name directly connected to this becuase I have always worked in the aftermarket replacement auto parts industry and didn't want to risk getting in any trouble for suggesting bringing back different cores (technically taboo, but the parts companies usually don't care as long as the core has the same value). Now that I'm getting out of the industry.....
Here's a link to the first Texas Rally where I installed them. :D
