i have a 95 200sx se. i am looking to swap the engine to a sr20de or s sr20det. which of these engines would be better for my car since i am just looking for about 290hp. also with these swaps what i am i looking to pay and what other mods will i have to do to make this swap work with my car. would i be better off just buying a se-r than doing this swap

Wow. Stupid questions. Seriously. You didn't even give the search button a try. This topic has been covered in so much detail it's not even funny.

Wow. There's a write up on a GA to DET swap in the technical forum. How could you have missed this?

ok i looked it up. here is the difference. his car is a b13 mine is a b14. so i might not have to re due my engine mounts. he had to swap his trans out, but from what i am hearing you don't have to do that with a b14, he had to re due pretty much everything in his whole car wires and what not. from what i keep hearing i am just going to be do a ecu and that pretty much it. i just might end up sending it to powerhouse and letting then deal with the swap

Wait, what? You just said you have a 95 200SX SE. Dude. That's a B14. Your going to need the front clip off a SE-R. NONE of your stuff is going to work. It's easier to sell your car and get an SE-R. 2-4k cheaper too. Then you can get a DET for 1k and it'll drop straight in.

PIsssh, you are SO wrong. He is better off getting a 2Jz Inline motor. He can get away over 600hp easy.
Being that No one this Forum every turbo their car it's going to be a bit Difficult project.
good luck..

Im not the one to Flame people but its obvious your friends dont know crap about Nissans, More so if your asking these questions here. On top of everything, you didn't search at ALL.. I mean, not one bit.
Stop posting here and do some searching and i promise you will NOT have to EVER create another post again asking a turbo question.

Yup. I am SO wrong. There is no way I could know this stuff. So go ahead and go get an SR20 and drop it in place of that Ga16. When you have a problem because nothing fits up to it, not even the motor mounts, come back here so I can tell you what a retard you and your "nissan dealer friends" are.

I felt sorry for how dimwitted you are and was actually going to help you. Now you can just go **** yourself.

dude they seriously do just drop into place. my neighbor has the se r and we sat there and compared everything man it will drop right in just like the other millions that have done this swap. its a b14 and that what the se r is a b14. i can use the ga16 trans but i am not. i am going to have a trans built for the car. yes i will have to redue the ecu and some reroute some wires. its pretty much a plug and play swap man

dude think about it a stock 4cy trans will not support more than 300hp without blowing something every time ii go to the track. i will have to upgrade the clutch and gears which will also help the car out with getting the power to the ground. and i am just going to pay a local performance shop to build me the trans and the motor and let them do the engine swap.

Please do at least a little research. This topic has been covered a lot.

Swapping from GA16 to SR20 is very involved. You will need an SR20 motor, an SR20 Trans, SR20 axles, mounts, blah blah blah search, blah blah blah.

You could listen to the people of this forum (who have direct experience building SR20 cars) or you can stop posting and listen to your buddy at the dealership.

PS - what is the name of this dealership so I know not to order parts from there.
thanks.

yes i know that when i am switching my motor out i will need the trans i didn't know about the axles so thanx for that. as far as the motor mounts the look like there going to line up just fine. i am going to be using a 95 sr20de.

b13- b14 all parts are the same just wire harness and ecu (obdII) is different so the step up is the swap will be carried out the same way

I was interested in doing this as well. Trust me, go into the tech library and there is a HOW TO on what you will need to buy (mostly from JGY) to complete the swap from the GA. It's a bit more complicated and expensive than you think. So read over it a few times before you start spending your money and decide if it is even worth it. That write up helped me decide that it's just a smarter investment to get an SE-R. I am new to the site as well, but you shouldn't tell everyone that isnt that their wrong. Just a little advice man. I am trying to help you out, not be an ass. So sorry if I came off that way.
