I've been wondering about the gains of an electric water pump but I hadn't heard about anyone doing one. Do you have before and after dynos or did you notice any SOTP difference? How much was the pump and what did you do to bypass the mechanical pump's place on the block, did you have to fab up some sort of delete plate with a fitting for the hose?

$289 in summit , this car has not been dynoed yet.I just started it and I still have to frount mount my gti-r intercooler ( I think it is around 7 hp and also you can run the pump when the car is not running to cool it down and better flow at high rpm and low)

My bad, should have done a search, I found your previous post about this. $289 huh? Damn, that's a lot of bucks. Maybe have to try and get a group buy going on those sometime. I'd use any old water pump that flows enough but the delete plate could be tough to fab up. Sounds easy, but might not be. Guess I'll pursue that when I get there. How did the electrical go? Did it hook up to an ECU wire or just straight off the ignition? I like the idea of an override switch, couple that with a fan override and you could cool an engine down while it's shutoff waiting in line at the dragstrip. You could even work that out with an additional turbo timer, or just a cheap adjustable timed relay to run the pump and fans for a few minutes after the car is shut down. I like. :)

do you have pics of the block off plate and of the kit before installation? if a local shop was correct, they said that the block off plate doesnt have an idler pulley to mimic the water pump pulley. is that true? if so i was thinking about buying the water pump itself and fabricating my own block off plate.

Ok here is the problem the block of plate has no pulley on it and when you put the belt on for the power stering it will now hit your timing marker ( *** the belt is now at a deffrent angal) .So me being so great lol. I rerouted my power sterring hose back into the power stering can and made manual sterring so i just have one belt for the alt. No power stering,no water pump,no a/c more power p.s the block of plate is anodized alummimum looks nice (spell check)

thats what i was thinking this mod would be even better in conjunction with the p/s eliminator kit i see floating around the forum. could get rid of that belt all together im sure that would free some useful power for the the wheels.

*starts getting ideas and smacks himself in the face* Bad money pit, BAD

so being a corner bender myself..how badly does the car steer with no p/s and how bad would it be with my 16s and some 205/45.

You don't need the power steering elim. kit if you get the water pump, you just remove the power steering pump and plug the rack. The elim kit is just there to tension the water pump belt.

ok he beat me to it ! well you don't want to plug it but run the hoses in to the power stering resivor and put a breather on top if you plug it the rack will get air bound or get a manual rack off a sentra . Do sum searching

You can remove all that stuff and plug the rack. If you just plug the rack right off, the steering wheel won't turn because it is trying to pump fluid from one side of the rack to the other, and the hose connections are plugged. You can either just run a short little hose between the two rack connections so fluid moves back and forth; or you can just remove the hoses and everything, turn the wheel lock-to-lock a few times and the rack will pump all the excess fluid out. Then just plug the rack and it should work fine. There are a couple of people I know who have done it this way and it works just fine. Get rid of all that engine bay hose clutter!

The manual rack from a Sentra E sucks. Don't get it. It is an even slower ratio steering rack, so it is the opposite of what you would want on a race car. More turns lock to lock.

does anyone have pics they can post of their engine bay with the p/s equipment removed? *** im still confused about the pulley. If i get rid of the power steering i dont need the pully so you have to put a plate over the old pulley area.
Also the p/s eliminator kit just puts a fake pulley in place of the old one to keep the tension on your old belt?

Crank your wheel lock to lock a few times with the engine off and see if you can live with it.

Hey boss, you need some re-circ piping for that BOV.

It should be open at idle = big fat unmetered air leak.
