So I want to install some cams and use some bc springs and retainers so I can get more out of 4th gear at the drag track.

I am reading that 7950-8000 is the max rpm these ecu's can limit to. Is this true? Is there some way we could make that... say 9000 rpm?

I rev mine out to 8300rpm. You can either set it up to 7950rpms or you can remove the limiter with the Calumsult. That's what I did.

8012.5 is the high.

8012.5 is the high.

I thought the highest was 8,012.6rpm.

But seriously, I heard some people getting an ECU limited 8300rpm.
And setting anything above 8300 would just make it infinity.
I'll have to test this out soon.

Its 8012.5.

And there is no way no matter what we do to the ecu we can make that higher? I just don't want to go with a different ignition system to get a rev limiter... I haven't found anything that just does rev limiting.

Is it safe to run the no rev limit with a Dyna rev limit deal?

Yes.

A basic VE setup with N1 cams isn't really even going to make power over 8K anyways right?

Wow those Dyna rev limiters are $200+ AHAH

DRL 400 I believe is what some guys have used.

Isn't the point here, that you can rev as high as you want? The only thing is that the ECU's MAP capability is only to 8K, so anything over 8K is still on 8K RPM cells.

Meaning, if you have capability to watch your AFR's and whatnot, and the motor isn't running lean or anything above 8K, you should be fine. I ran my setup to 8500 with the STG 2 cams and it ran fine, no leaning out or pockets, etc.

Exactly but for someone like myself I would prefer to have some sort of rev limiter set in place say at 8500 for when I am at the track. I can't watch my tach every second but for daily driving I am sure it is not necessary.

Its 8012.5.

Is it not possible to change the rpm scale in the tables (ignition, fuel, etc.) to allow for tuning above 8000rpm?

ie. instead of a 500 rpm scale , change the rpm scale to every 550rpm for a map that covered 8800rpm (550 x 16)

You can set the scale in what ever increments you want, but the highest point you can set is 8012.5.

Gotcha - Can you explain why?
