Has anybody thought of using an HKS super AFR? it has a cool Idle Stabilizer function that lets you run an unrecirculated BOV. i wonder how it would work in conjunction with a JWT ECU?

How do you get around the problem of running rich when using an atmosphere-vented CBV?

well, i dont know, but the super AFR is supposed to, the e-manage also has an anti-stall program. i know its not economical to use something solely for the purpose of a loud BOV, but i had a wet dream about it last night and wondered if it could be done.:D

Yes it could be done, as you said, the economics behind it suck. An apexi Super AFC is also able to 'correct' for the unrecirculated air. I thought about adding an S-AFC to tune the fuel curve on my JWT ECU equipped Turbo Se-r but I just can't justify it it right now. Although I think the Deceleration feature as to not have to recirculate the BOV , I believe it's called, would be (r/n)ice to have.

I have an unrecirculated Greddy Type S blowoff valve, and i absolutely LOVE IT. When i recirculated it the car acted a lot worse than not being recirculated. My JWT ECU is weird, but anyways I love hitting the loud a$$ type S down the street and my car still hauls ass:D

Can you release the stock BB BOV into the atmosphere??

By running rich (which occurs when you dump into the atmosphere), the added fuel will have a long-term affect on the piston rings. I also heard that there may be more carbon buildup on the pistons from running rich, but I haven't confirmed that yet. I will admit that I do like the sound of an open BV, but I'm not sure if I'll run it like that...

so since i have a S-AFC then i dont need to worry about the recirculating???or do i??

I have run a Greddy Type S and am now running a Type R, both venting to atmosphere. No idle issues, no stalling, blah, blah ,blah. The trick i to adjust the BOV, to just the point where there is no comprssor surge, but its not so soft that it opens everytime you let off the throttle.

But WITH an S-AFC or similar device you can control the function which will compensate for the non recirculated air therefore not causing a rich condition or stumbles would be expected by using a JWT reprogrammed ecu.

NismoDriver: I gotta try that Greddy Type S trick ;)

so basically, if you have a JWT ecu, there is no cheap, economical, and/or reliable way to vent our BOV's to the atmosphere? that sucks!, I might try that type S trick, since thats what i have, but i still think i'll run rich in between shifts and such

Why not relocate the MAF to right before the throttle body, that way you could blow off, and it would be metering the correct amount of air...

eh?

I don't think the MAF would like boost very well, it's fragile.

Other than hotter air, it should be the same force (if its the first thing in the intake track, then its having air pulled past it like a mofo) if its the last night, its just being blown against like a mofo but with warmer air...

I dunno....
Andreas?
Mike?

Anyone?

If it's right before the throttle body, would it have time to do its function? It seems like if it's that close, the air will arrive at the combustion chamber before the fuel  I don't really know exactly how the MAF works, so I can't say for sure.
