the car has been cranking fine until today i went and it started for me all day until a few hours ago and it wont hit at all you can hear the starter clicking and it does nothing bright lights, new battery, but it will start when you push it off is the starter or something worse ??? please help!!!!!

yes it will start right up,but i didn't know if it could be something else, what the difference between the hitachi, and mitsubishi starter?

your starter isnt broken.. completely .. .
it has a bad spot in it.. so unless you want to park on hills. or have a passenger push you...

replace the starter...
thats happened to me.. bad spot on the starter... ive had my ex g/fs dad push me down the street :) hahaha

alright thats what i will try, i will remove it and test it too before i go get another one,just to know!!! will the mitsu.bolt on in replacement of the hitachi or do you have to do something to get it to work??

now there is not even a clicking noise, i turn the key and nothing at all!!

You can buy a starter off ebay. Reliability is questionable, but you save yourself quite a bit of money.

Quick starter checks.

Smack it. Like with a hammer and a prybar. While someone has the key in the start position. If it kicks in your starter is bad.

Use a volt meter. Check for the signal at the starter. If it is getting voltage when someone is turning the key, your starter is probably bad.

The other common problem is corroded terminals. They'll corrode all the way down the wire under the rubber.

can always just take it out and put direct power to it and see if it jumps

rebuild it...its like 35-50 i get it done for 30. its ur starter dude. most ppl on here went tru that..listen to us.

also the hitachi and mitsubishi is same starter..different company. i think the stock starter is a mitsubishi. my bb motor came with a mitsubishi. so did my de.

alright guys thanks i will take it out tommorrow i is a hitachi i had it off last year and greased it just was wondering which was better!

the one without the noise covering the wheel is the good one the one with out the nose on it is the bad one if i remember correct

in my experience the one with the nose cone is the better of the 2

got it fixed, i put the mitsubishi on and it started fine thanks to all !!!!
