: I need brake upgrade fast
ThomasSr20 08-15-2002, 02:34 AM Today i raced this 1990 5.0 mustang w/intake,exhaust, test pipe, Cobra head and some other bullshit. After racing him like 2 time and when i got to a complete stop, i saw i rotors were burnning RED and it was throwing sparks out when i brake.
What is the best brake upgrade beside NX2000 setup.
SE-Rican 08-15-2002, 08:20 AM Thomas make sure your break pads are still in good condition. (Did you beat him?)
spdracerUT 08-15-2002, 12:38 PM Well, all depends on how much money you gots so spend. You can get some 4 piston calipers with 13" rotors on aluminum hats if you gots the money.

...very good point...
Check out fast brakes (http://www.fastbrakes.com/) as an option.
NismoNx2000 08-15-2002, 01:08 PM Of course you were racing at the track right??
;)
I say personally hook up the nx2k brake upgrade. My car stops on a dime and I love it. I have some metal masters up front and stocks in the back. My boy chris (nismoser) just purchased the complete brake upgrade kit, which includes nx2k calipers, rotors, and pads for around 200 bucks. You cant go wrong for that price.

Driven97 08-15-2002, 04:53 PM I'll second that pads are more important than the brakes themselves. Our cars are very light, and you don't really *need* anything too big. I've got the AV22s, and have never had a problem on the street with my metal masters and some insane braking. For the track, I use Panther XP pads from Carbotech (http://www.carbotecheng.com) and I could hang with Porsches in braking at the end of a 20 min session. I could blow EVERY other car out of the water in braking at that point, too.
Just one of the many perks of light weight. :D
Edit:
Of course, if you must spend the money, the fastbrakes option is a great one. Definately wouldn't hurt, would look great under your big wheels, and they got a great review (on a WRX) in a recent Car and Driver article. Plus, is a great value for what you get.
spdracerUT 08-15-2002, 05:42 PM I have the ad22vfs and they work great. No probs with brake fade at a track event at Texas World Speedway though that track is pretty easy on brakes. I LOVE big brakes though..... the fastbrakes kit is tempting... I'm done messing around with this car though. Savin up for the next one....

Wow thats cheaper than I thought....where can I get em all for that price? You think its worth it to go C/D & Chamfered all way around w/ ss lines and pads would be better?? (550 bucks for all that)
Kyle
I would go with the fast brakes setup. I got the 11" kit with the wilwood 4 piston caliper and my 92 stops so different than the stock shit brakes the car came with. I got them on a GD for $600 delivered with front S/S lines. Do a search for Fastbrakes and there are pics of the before and after on my car. Brakes are so very important as i am learning on the road coarses! Bang for the buck the NX Deal is not to shabby!
Andreas Miko 08-15-2002, 10:13 PM If you want I have a set of NX2000 front brakes. Everthing is in just about new condition.

Thanks for the infor everyone, i might go with the nx2000 upgrade.
PhattyB13 08-16-2002, 12:56 AM hey Andreas..... I was wondering how much you were lookign to get rid of the NX2K brakes for.. adn is it everyhting to do the swap on my 94 SE 1.6.. thanks man
NismoNx2000 08-16-2002, 09:36 AM Let me also clarify.....the brake upgrade kit Chris got was for the fronts only. He is keeping the av18's in the back which are stock. he will most likely upgrade the pads on them. Of course most of the braking comes from the front of the car which everyone knows for the most part. I would hook up what andreas is selling, its the same setup that Chris got. Except he pieced it together from two different places. I personally dont think its worth it to upgrade all 4 rotors and calipers to the nx2k brake package. Just hook up the fronts, and you will be more then satisfied.
socalser1 08-17-2002, 10:08 PM where can i get the nx2000 kit setup in cali(san diego) for cheap, cause i just got new 17' rims(bling, bling) and my stock brakes are way to small looking now.

I think you meant to say the AD07's are stock in the back on SE-R's and NX2000s. The AD18's are stock fronts on SE-R's. Unless he is retrofitting the old fronts to the rear w/o a parking brake. Sorry for the nit-picking.
Josh
SR20 Inside 08-17-2002, 11:49 PM Would the nx2000 setup work on a 96p10? Would you guys recommend them and fastbrakes for a p10?
Thanks.
NismoGizmo 08-18-2002, 11:01 AM If you have a little extra cash these could also score big in the car shows if you compete. Your car looks great, this could help in all departments: http://www.hpracing.com
I've got the Nismo kit on my car and the difference is incredible.
I think Andreas' deal on the NX2k system would be an excellent value. That and maybe a master cyllinder from a '97 and up Altima. Maybe.
Fastbrakes are cool too. As are systems by SMC. All better than stock, as you have found out.

The NX brakes won't help you out there. They are essentially the same diameter, they're just thicker to dissipate more heat. You'll have to go to one of the big brake kits to fill out your rims.

According to that pic, and the info on se-r.net, the NX rotors are bigger.
And Thomas, lay off the street racing :) ;)
spdracerUT 08-18-2002, 09:09 PM As you notice from the pic, the NX rotors are only a tad bit bigger in diameter. So they aren't going to help much if you're trying to get rid of the gap between the brakes and big 17" wheels.
