I jsut bought my JDm sr20de, and its different then others i have seen. It is the high port head with the "upside down" intake but it has a goldish valve cover that is exactlly like the low port sr20. It dosn't have the black spark plug cover going down the middle. What kinda sr20 is this??? Anyways, to my problem. I know in japan they dont have a EGR system installed buy here we do. There is no port anywhere to swap the egr system over to this motor so i was wondering what do i do? I need to pass emissions and new jersey has very strict rules. I know the EGR has no effect once the engine is warm or whatever but i don't want to fail emissions and waste my money. If anyone could help i'd REALLY appreciate it.

You need to swap the JDM intake manifold for your stock "US" intake manifold. Then just reconnect all the EGR/emissions stuff.

 Thats my problem though. I have a 95 G20 with the low port engine. I can't swap intake manifolds:mad:  I see you're form jersey, do you think i'd pass emissions with no egr?

I PM'd you about this but just to reiterate: swap over the exhaust manifold and the little sensors and stuff. Keep that intake on there and I believe you'll be alright.
Just that the next time you need to go to inspection, make sure your cat is nice and hot, your motor is in tune, and wear a big smile. :D

I didn't know what car you drove. You should add that to your signature. So if I understand everything correctly, you have a '95 low port motor and got a JDM high port (or '91 - '93) motor? If so, I don't know if you can use your existing ECU on the high port motor.
As you know, NJ is very strict with emissions although there is no visual inspection. I've been told that without the EGR, the high ports won't pass. Of course that statement may not apply to all situations. You could, of course, "go for it". The worst that will happen is that you will fail and have another thirty days to do "something".
Did you specify what year car you had when you got your JDM motor? If so, then they screwed up and maybe you should call them and tell them your dilemma.

Me neither. Someone around here knows the answer though. I remember reading about 2 or 3 b14's with the high port swap.

Just go for it. My friend John has a 92 NX with teh EGR blocked off and had no problem passing emmissions. Note, we are from Jersey.

JDM engines don't come as a low port. Any JDM motor you get will be a high port. That's what I'm lead to believe, anyway.

I have a 95 G20 which came with the low port engine. As chris said the JDM only comes in the high port and i knew that going into this. I read up a lto on it but obviously not enough because i totally forgot about the EGR problem. From what i've read the ecu should work fine but someone please correct me if i'm wrong. A lot of people, so it seems have done a low port to high port swap and i dont remmeber anyone saying anything about the ecu not working, but liek i said someone please enlighten us about whether it will be a problem. Thanks.....:o
