: Not many SE's in here, eh?
I just inherited a 99 sentra SEL (automatic, unfortunately) with SR20.. it's in fair shape for having 97k on it. It runs near perfect, except for the check engine light. I don't think it leaks or has anything particularly wrong with it. The a/c still blows cold, which is nice in Florida. The only thing is it's kind of ugly. It's black, and the sun has beat it up pretty bad. There's a small circle of rust forming on the roof, and the spoiler is looking really faded. There's various door dings and whatnot, but all and all fairly nice. I have always wanted this car, and I finally have it now that I don't have the money to do anything with it :( At least it's paid for. It desperately needs the windows tinted, and I'd love to have it swapped to manual.. I'm gonna go troll the rest of the board now and see what info I can find on it.. do people still work on these cars? It has been years since I read up on these cars.. anyway, I just thought I'd stop in here first and say hi to the other 4 threads. =]
TommyD241 09-04-2008, 10:31 PM I have a 98 SE and there are some other proud 4 door owners on here.
Niiiice.. :)
I'm still learning my way around this board, so forgive me if I ask a dumb question, but is there anything particular special about the sentra se compared to any other sr20 b14's? Any stupid gotchas or anything to watch out for when reading the howto's and whatnot? I can't say I've ever seen the sentra se mentioned specifically.. if I had to guess, I'd guess it's fully compatible, but can you or someone confirm ***?
Btw, I thought the sentra se section was just dead, but I see all four threads are recent.. is this part of the board new?
redcap3000 09-04-2008, 11:35 PM Yup lots. g20 ecu will take care of a lot of differences, as will a 91 intake cam.. also the rear suspension is known to suck.. but no complaints here with a used tein SS setup.
You're using a lowport so your intake parts will be different from the highports.. Also the cat is a little longer so the exhaust is slightly different, other than that theres some auto only stuff that will need to be made for or come from a car with an a/t (think TPS, ecu, few other things.)
I like my sentra 99 se with auto... but I've done a lot (CAI, 91' cams, 2 ssac header, cam timing, advanced timing 17 degrees, full 2.25 vrs catback exhaust w/resonator) and more than most to put my powerband in the mid/lower ranges (rather than the top)
Also swap out your brakes in the front with some ad22's (like I did) you'll need to stop because you'll be going a lot faster.. those stock brakes fade in about 20 min. of hard driving.. ad22's fix that..
chipey23 09-04-2008, 11:54 PM Like it was said before. There are some proud owners of SE's here. Here's my P.O.S.

HTKPHPSE-L 09-05-2008, 12:51 AM I have a 99 SEL with a NEOVVL in it and it has been a great car for as long as I had it... The body is rough but the SR20VE runs like a champ...I cannot find out how to post pics but someday I'll learn... I love the Sentra SE's because I love four door cars... Welcome to the board and there is everything you would ever need to find out about the B14 4dr...
TommyD241 09-05-2008, 01:12 AM See what I'm talking about? Those are some fine examples of B14 4-door love! Like the other dudes said... Get yourself a highport intake cam, an OBD2 G20 or a Calum ECU, & have your solid rear beam bent to zero toe in and you will be set. Also listen to what redcap3000 has to say about cam gears to get the most out of your auto transmission.
TommyD241 09-05-2008, 03:52 PM Here are some picks of my pride and joy! ;)

n1smojunkie 09-05-2008, 03:58 PM Nice car Tommy...did you use the stained glass paint for your corners or amber paint?
The thing I miss most is driving a manual. I used to drive my buddy's 96 se-r, and it was pretty sweet. Is it a straight forward procedure to convert it? Can any shop do it, or would I need a speed shop? I found some threads that say it's pretty well plug-and-play but it was for different year/model. And an older thread saying to buy the actual transmission off here for 300 bucks.. is that right?! I think it was an older thread.. is it still possible to get parts for these cars, or is it all junkyard jewels by now?
TommyD241 09-05-2008, 10:59 PM Nice car Tommy...did you use the stained glass paint for your corners or amber paint?
I used Tamiya stained glass orange paint. I seperated the lens from the housing and painted the lens on the inside.

LOUROK 09-06-2008, 12:47 PM I love 4 doors SE-L's I would like to own one one day.
TommyD241 09-06-2008, 01:51 PM nice...where did you get the paint?
I got it at a local hobby store. Just go to Tamiya's website and use there dealer locator to find a store in your area.
sr20speed 09-07-2008, 02:52 AM I have a 98 SE and love it. Used to have a 96 SE-R, but I enjoy the four-door chassis much better...I do miss the factory LSD however. I'll post some pics tomorrow/
xCONWRATHx 09-07-2008, 02:47 PM Another SE-L, currently auto, 5-speed in the spring hopefully, got an LSD sitting in my garage right now.
