Well I was driving home from school today and I didn't notice it on the way to school. When I went to brake for a stop sign, I turned the wheel to the right while braking and my car makes a LOUD noise(almost like a old door making a creeking noise). I came home and It is coming from the drivers side. There is no noise when I brake and dont turn the wheel. I only hear the noise when I brake and turn the wheel slightly to either the left or the right.

Does anyone have any ideas what is up with my car.
Please help

this might sound dumb, check your lug nuts

Because your description says it sound like an "old door creaking" I would suspect your brake wear indicators on your pads. They exist to warn you when you pads are worn in order to save them from grinding away at the rotors. It also makes sense that it might be louder, or more noticable when you turn, because the pad is *slightly* angled more do to the shift in the cars weight---thus it might be making a louder sound when you turn.

I am not sure how many miles you have on your car, how hard you drive it and what type of driving you do--city vs. highway. However, I would *suspect* that if you have over 30k that this could be a possability.

Best thing to do is take off that wheel and look to see how much pad you have left. That shouldn't take you more than 15min.

Good luck!

haha I did check them and OMG they were loose. The drivers side one wasnt even hand tight. but... I tightened them up real good, and I can still hear it, but it is so much quieter than it was.

Shumax...
I don't think it is my pads but I am will check them just in case.

I have 168k and still breaking it in;)

But thanks for all the help. Any more ideas besides the ones listed would be awesome.
Thanks

make sure that they are on real tight because the sound could be the rotor falling on the brake pad

when you put on wheels and torque the nuts you should a few days later retorque them again
