hey, maybe some of you det veterans can help me here. A friend of mine just did a DET swap into an s13. He started it, it cranked right over and ran but the idle is VERY rough at 2000 rpm. Then it raises the idle to 3000rpm and is smooth at that speed. Any ideas why it would have to idle so high in order to run smooth? Is the the ECU compensating for somehting? There is no distributor so im not sure how to test for a timing problem. There is also no exhaust bolted up in case that is important. thanks

might try www.zilvia.net for some people who have performed similar swaps...

If he does not have the exhaust connected, then the O2 sensors are not available to the ECU for readings. This would explain the poor idle.

Its not connected from the downpipe back... im pretty sure the O2 sensor is connected but ill check that out. by the way, gamblerZ, that s14 in your signature is sweet looking. Those ones with the "good" headlights are hard to come by. Ive been looking for a while. thanks for the info, ill tell him to check that out.

O2 sensor was hooked up, searched for vacuum leaks in the intercooler piping and didnt find any. TPS sensor maybe??? any thoughts, i checked those other websites and they made a few suggestions but so far nothing has fixed it completely.
