Fram just came out with a device that will let you drain your oil with this lil tube that connects to your oil pan called sure drain. I was wondering...will oil pressure suffer from this or is it ok to use? Heres a link to the product. http://www.fram.com/ click the sure drain icon on the bottom left of the page.

oil pressure will not change with the use of it.. It is only a drain plug with a release valve in it. I like the concept except i am sceptical of the valve going bad and losing oil while driving.. I guess fram owes you an engine then.

I'll just make sure I got my pan lined up with my drain plug. I can see the that thing leaking after a year or so.

I don't really see what the point of it is... What's so hard about unbolting a drain pan bolt? To me, it's just one more thing to keep clean (the hose).

Call me a wuss, but I would like to do an oil change without the possibility of burning my hand on hot oil.

So you have never ever gotten a little mess on yourself while changing oil? Well I've always done my own old and my brothers so I have... This will help a lot too because I usualy refill the bottles with the used oil and take them back to where i bought them... this will make my job a little easier...

Some of us have stuff to do during the day which means we cant wait for the oil to cool for that long. This makes things a whole lot easier. And less painful.

Ive always heard (whether valid or not) that changing the oil while its hot evacuates more oil than otherwise. Also, if anybody here can remove the bolt without it dropping into the oil tub or on the driveway, I'd like to see it.

Look, there's no obvious harm in trying the thing, if it makes the draining a little easier. People who will pay >$100 for a 5hp or less mod cant complain about $10 worth of convenience.

I can do it sometimes =) And yes hot oil is thinner than cold oil, so maybe more would come out...

Gotta wait til the next oil change to get use of it. Oh well, I love convenience.

I can take the bolt out everytime without it falling on the driveway or in the pan.. I worked in repair shops for the last 2 years and cant even begin to count how many oil changes ive done. I dont see how it is more convienent when you have to take more steps to use it.. to drain the oil normally all you do is use a wrench to loosen the drain plug and when the oil is done draining you put it back in and there your done. on this valve you have to unscrew the cap ( which is going to be just as hot as the drain plug), screw on the hose and wait for the oil to drain, then you have to unscrew the hose, put the cap back on the plug and then clean the hose out. so tell me again how convienent it is.
