untrue. japanese automanufacturers have a self imposed 270hp limit.

OT, but naw.

The Eclipse has been moved upscale. They've spent a lot pitching it as a four-person luxury GT, and an AWD turbo model would put it in the same catagory as the Lancer EVO (already confirmed). Redundant, I'd think.

They are removing that restriction 2003, according to some "Motor" magazine. Said that Japan will now start competing vs the European Supercars. (Ferrari, Lambourghini etc)

Apparently, when put on a dyno, a Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer VI, put out a little more than the 206Kw (270hp) that Mitsubishi claimed... Hmmm, someone skirting the rules a little bit?

We need a real Lancer in the States. I hope Mitsu doesn't detune the EVO the way Subaru did the WRX. They take a great car and put panties on it. The eclipse needs to be turboed again. All the turboed four cylinders got V6ed. Probe, eclipse, galant.

The EVO's already detuned... The Australian version puts out 206Kw (claimed) but does a 0-60mph in 4.0s. I'd like to see that out of a 206Kw engine in a 1.25 tonne car. (Yeah right)

However, the Tommi Makkinen version is a twin sequential turbo, while the road version is just a single turbo. I wonder what the rally version put out.

From what I've read somewhere, the WRC rally cars only make 300 some HP. But they make around 400 lb-ft torque. This is due to the restrictors they have to run in WRC. The rally cars in the US make more HP but are still slower because of all the torque the WRC cars make. I imagine lots of low end torque is advantagous for powering out of corners while doing a 4 wheel slide.

how do they want to start making super cars with there more stringent emissions? They already killed the Celica, Silvia, and Skyline (please don't mention the V35 or I may kill someone..lol) These where the closest supercars they had and now they have to go bye bye

After the demise of group B series, 300 HP restrictors were put in place. Hp limited, torque unlimited. Spectators and drivers were killed, causing a panic and unfortunately the end of group B. Group B was unrestricted HP,TQ and allowed tube frame chassis's. These cars were brutal.
