After my '92 SE-r was down for two years, I finally got it back together and took the boys to the track for their first drag racing. We had a great time, got multiple runs in ranging from 14 to 28 seconds! I was fun to see their expressions as they learned how hard it is to launch and manage a car at the strip with everyone looking on and how fun it is to blast through the traps at 100+mph. After a few runs we put on the slicks, turned on the bottle and upped the boost, but the spark didn't hold over 5500rpm, so we had to short shift and we didn't get any better than 14.3 at 108mph ( altitude is around 4500ft, DA was about 5500).

Finally, my 17 yr. old tried his first burn-out in the box, made a beautiful cloud of smoke and didn't realize he was burning the clutch, not the tires :). SO we limped it home with smiles from ear to ear.

Tranny is out, and we're making plans to go again in a couple of weeks.

Cliff notes:

Ran a 14.3
Fried the clutch
Had a great time!

thats awsome dude i gotta pry my daughter out of the drivers seat every other day, shes 2 and a half so i think its time to start bringing her to the track with a good set of ear plugs of course.

dont need another reason for her not to listen to me.

It happens faster than you think. When I blew my head gasket, my oldest son was just starting to drive and had no interest in fast cars. Now he's 19, is dying to by an sr swapped 240, and my second oldest has been HOUNDING me to get the car together as the next best thing to to the LS1 Camaro he is dreaming of. Now my 13 yr. old is scheming a way to get into the track and DRIVE:eek: It's a lot of fun. Don't let it sneak up on you, then pass you by, like I almost did.
