In light of current circumstances and an apparent misunderstanding on my part concerning the quality of their products. I need to put a new exhaust on my classic. I don't want to spend a ton of money and I don't want a ricey exhaust. I might do a header as well. So I was thinking about the pacesetter ceramic header, pacesetter cat-back exhaust, and a copper gasket. I can do the whole thing from NOPI for like $387 + shipping. I'm just wondering what you veteran SE-R folks think. Is there any other setups that I should consider instead, with respect to the cost? Additionally, can I get a silencer for the exhaust so it's not so ricey? I appreciate any input. Thanks.

The header is quite good. I bought mine used (non-ceramic) and refinished it with 1500 degree heat temp silver paint. Looks great and performs well.
The ceramic might be worth the extra $$, but then again, you could by the regular one, sand it down and paint it with a heat temp paint like many have done to save yourself some $$, then get a custom cat-back exhaust for about the same price as the PS cat-back. Just a thought.
I have no personal experience, but have read the cat-back is a great price for the mandrel bend piping and it does have a built in resonator. The only issues I have heard is the rear section muffler rusts out very quickly.

If you use paint thinner and something like a sos pad the black paint comes off with no probs. It is like it just melts off in sheets. leaving a smooth finish to paint with no sore forearms.

I used 3m general purpose adheasive remover because I had it for 1 and for 2 It seems similar to a thinner. It worked well.

The cat back is not a bad piece for the money. Mandrel bent, 2.25" - excellent size for NA applications. It's really not much louder than stock - it's a double pass, louvered muffler. Has a good tone, deep and not droning, not loud and ricey either.
Just make sure your fitment is the way you want it before you tighten everything down. A couple people have cut an inch or so from the over-axle pipe so the tip doesn't stick out past the bumper. Mine installed well and is mostly still there - I replaced the muffler because it rattled (I think this was a manufacturing problem, not a rust issue) and the resonator because the new muffler WAS too loud.
Hope this helps.

Well I got tired of the droning exhaust and was tired of shifting early to save my ears. So I bought a $60 OEM replacement from Advance Auto and put in on. Only took me 15 minutes, and I barely got my hands dirty. Nice and quiet now, so I can enjoy my new-found acceleration in the SE-R. :) Which I want to hear under more pleasant tones, by the way, so I'll do my ghetto pop charger next. I might still do the pacesetter header and cat-back later on though. I'll be doing ADV22's, stainless brake lines, motul fluid, ES bushings all around, new sway bars, suspension and rims/tires before I get to fiddling with exhaust and headers though. Now I just need to get those noisy lifters figured out. :(
Oh, here's the nasty muffler that was on there.

Then my half assed, ghetto-fabulous, Pepsi can and Aluminum Duct Tape fix, it lasted about 15 minutes. :) It's good for a laugh. Can you blame me for trying to save a buck? :D

And lastly, but certainly not leastly, the new muffler.

Here's my ugly exhaust tip and I would like to stay that way, so there's no rice accusation to be made, however, it doesn't stick out past the bumper at all, so I might find a tastefull tip to put on that will keep my bumper clean and not attract any undue attention to my modest exhaust.
