Say i were to get a race steering wheel....i would want to ditch the drivers side bag and the passenger bag...when i look in my fsm the passenger bag looks to be all one unit...i think i would like to keep at least a cover where the airbag goes...how would i go about doing that....i know ive seen a few guys turn that into a guage pod. that is one idea i am toying with also.

**EDIT** where would I go about obtaining a TORX T50 screwdriver or ratchet attatchment?

You can take just one out if you want. I have a Momo steering wheel, and the airbag light flashed until I disconnected it. I plan on doing the passenger airbag into either gauges or a tv. Chef has a PIMP one motorized and all.

Airbags suck. All they do is trash your interior with yellow dust when deployed. Just wear your seatbelt.

i would keep your air bags if i were you, but thats just a matter of preference. i always thought air bags were useless and when i owned my SE Limited, i wanted to remove the airbags and sell them to a auto body shop for some cash. Then easter sunday came along in 2000 and this dumbass tried to cut me off making a left turn going the opposite direction as me but didnt make it so we collided head on. we were both going approx 40-50 mph, and i believe the air bags really did save my life and my passengers life.

Personally I sit far back enough from the airbags, where all they would do is piss me off. If I didn't want to be able to use those as a selling feature w/ my car, I would get rid of them. They're useless for me. As for advice, sadly I'm not going to be much help. You can probably get that TORX screwdriver from a nearby parts store or major tool manufacturer.

If I'm not mistaken, T50 is getting pretty big, you might not be able to find a T50 screwdriver. I bought a shitload of torx sockets from JC Whitney really cheap, I think I spent like $10 and got a ton of sizes. They're one piece though, not the nice hardened steel inserts into a chromoly socket like Craftsman makes, but then again, I bought an entire set for what Craftsman charges for one. You can get them pretty cheap at Advance Auto if you really just want that size. I don't use them often enough to buy higher quality ones.

I wouldn't take airbags out unless it were a track/drag only car that I trailered to the races. In fact, that's why I was only looking for a '93 SE-R, I wanted an airbag and a highport engine. You'd have to ask your local law, but I'm willing to bet that removing the airbags is illegal, and I'm lamost 100% sure that you couldn't resell the car without them. You can't sell a car under clear title that doesn't has functioning safety equipment, and that comes from the federal level IIRC. I sit clear the hell back as well, I'm 6'3" so I always have the seat back as far as it'll go and tilted back as well. When I had my Beretta I had the seat tilted back to a comfortable level because it was an auto, didn't need to reach the shifter, and I still hit the airbag when i wrecked the car, and I was glad it was there. I was only going 35 at the time as well. Totalled the car and I barely even had a sore neck from the deal. (Mostly because I didn't know what was coming, didn't have time to tense up). So I would strongly recommend that you leave airbags alone for that reason at least.
