Thanks for the reply. When you mean local stores, do you mean discount tire? Or are there discount tire direct stores? What if I bring just the wheels and the new tires in and they do not need to put my car up, which is what I was planning in the first place for other reasons, is it still the same price?.. To me, $19.99 per tire seems a little high as some shops will install and balance a tire for around $10 each, I would think there would at least be some kind of a discount for a customer who buys from the copmany compared to someone that comes in and brings in their own tires they got elsewhere. I am not trying to change the way things work, or critisizing the company, just voicing my opition, thats all :)

Discount Tire Direct is the mail order service of Discount Tire Co./America's Tire Co. We are owned by the same man but we do operate as a separate business. Discount Tire Direct is designed to compete with the online market which typically has cheaper retail prices, however, cheaper prices usually include less services. If you purchase tires from us, your local Discount Tire/America's Tire will install them for $19.99 per tire. Like mentioned before, this price includes lifetime balance and rotation, free flat repair, and new rubber valves. You maybe able to find someone to install them cheaper locally but will they back up the install with all the free services that we include? If you purchase a wheel and tire combination from us we will mount and balance them for free and ship them to you ready to be bolted on. You can have your local store install them. I'm not sure what they charge to bolt them on but I believe it's under $5.00 an assembly.

Were you looking to purchase a wheel and tire combination or were you looking for just tires?

Time To buy tires for another set of rims and need your help again! Just wondering if there are any new tires out that I should be looking at.. The hankook tires that i have on now on my 16" wheels have no traction at all... I am looking for much more traction on my 17" wheels. What would be your suggestion for great traction tire on a turbo car? Looking to replace all 4. Thanks!

We would be happy to recommend a tire for you.

What vehicle application will this new set be going on? Besides traction, what other features were you looking for out of your tires? Will you be doing any racing? Also, what are your wheel dimensions (width and offset)? Any suspension modifications?

This will be a daily on NX2000. The tires on the wheel right now are 205/40R17. The vehicle is slightly lowered on adjustable dampening struts.

Thank you for the additional information.

A great model to look into is the Nitto NeoGen. This model does very well in the wet and is nice and sticky. With an asymmetric tread pattern, you can rotate the tires from side to side so you can expect anywhere from 20K to 30K miles. Here's the link with more details.

Thank you for your response. I was also looking at this tire, which would be a better choice for my application between the NeoGen and the NT 555? http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/nitto/product/submitProductSize.do?pc=40157&typ=Passenger%2FPerformance&tmn=NT+555+Extreme+Performance , Why? Thanks.

Both models would be a great choice for what you're after. I like the NeoGen a little more however for your application because of the asymmetric tread pattern. Like previously mentioned, you can rotate the tires from side to side which will help with longevity and this type of tread pattern also corners very well.

You may be able to get a 215/45R16 under there if you stick with a narrower running brand (Falken or Nitto). You'd have to see if you have the room for the extra height and width. Use the tire size calculator in our signature to estimate the size difference from what you have now.

According to Nitto's website their Neo Gen is about 3/4" taller in the 205/50R16 size than the 205/45R16 size. You'd need to be able to squeeze half of that difference in your fender + some room for suspension flex. 3/8" isn't that much but with your suspension mods you'll have to take a look.
