Has anyone relocated their oil filter? If so, what did you use? where did you relocate it?

TIA

Over-Engineered Concepts at one time made a filter relocator specific for the SE-R. It was situated next to the windshield washer fluid bottle.

Problem with the non OEC kits is usualy they all require cutting. What they do is have you cut the long tube that goes up into the filter. Our filters differ from most all others by having that long tube. If i remember correctly from talking with Ben, is his doesnt require cutting off of that tube

Thanks for the replies...mucho appreciated. I did check out fram's site, but nothing was listed. I'll contact Nissan Motorsports and maybe mossy or my local stealership to see if they have anything on tap.

Bowlcut,

which Ben?

Are there any problems with relocating the oil filter? I definitely would like to do this, but I seem to recall a discussion on these, and not everybody thinks it's such a great idea.

So does anybody have any experience in using these? Problems? Praises?

Thanks,
Tommy

Shoes59 has one on his VE. I don't know why but maybe he will chime in.

I got one already installed in a used JDM Silvia S15, so I've no idea how hard the installation was. It's an HKS unit with an oil cooler in front.

Only problem so far is that the Nissan OEM oil filters don't fit. The 2 I've tried for the SR20DE series have either been too long (the intake manifold blocks it) or the threading was too deep into the filter and didn't catch. I ended up using a Purolator filter, until I can find the one they had on there before. Placement is key.

Other than that, filter changes are easy, and the oil cooler keeps my oil temps under 85*C in 34*C ambient temps (spirited driving). The kit also seems to have space for an oil pressure and temp gauge.
