I have one in my garage that was removed from an SE-R. It ran but knocked when it was removed...... Probably not your first choice but thought I would throw that out there.
SR20s rule 10-28-2008, 01:42 PM thanx, ill keep it in mind;)
sr20declassic 10-28-2008, 03:27 PM I have a VE up in WI. 1350 picked up.
LOUROK 10-28-2008, 03:35 PM you ga locked up? how, i know you had alot of miles but what happenend?
SR20s rule 10-28-2008, 06:09 PM not the ga, it was the SR. I was on my way to work this morning and I started to here a light knocking sound. as I was coming up to the next stop light. I put the car in neutral and then it bogged down and died, I threw it into 2nd and let off the clutch and it fired up again. I didnt know what was going on, so I headed back home. i pulled into the garage and popped the hood to see where the noise was coming from. but before I could find it. the motor julted forward and then died. I tried to restart it but now when you turn the key, the starter kicks on put the engine wont budge, its locked up, maybe it threw a rod or something, im not sure:confused:
my budget for a new engine is $800-1000, and I wont have that until I sell my S4 cams
oh I almost forgot to mention. "JWT S4 CAMS FOR SALE!!!!" $425 local pickup only as I dont have any way to get around right now
Shift1.6 10-29-2008, 12:17 AM There's a lot of places in chicago where you can get sr20's. Check craigslist, usually they have some for like $400. There's a place on elston avenue, between cicero and lawrence, its called Eric Japan Engine Inc. They usually have a couple of sr20's.
JayGThatsMe 10-29-2008, 01:15 AM hey this john with the green slammed xe. thats freakin crazy, pnp motors arnt gurentee to run long i guess :( hey i found another se-r rim. lovin it. hope you get your whip runnin back up soon.
byronchrisp05 10-29-2008, 07:36 AM I have a sr20 that is diss assembled ill sell ya if your interested
SR20s rule 10-29-2008, 07:17 PM well I just got a deal on a pretty decked out bluebird motor. it will include: full motor, log turbo manifold, turbo, intercooler piping, HKS SSQV and downpipe.all this for $2000 plus the header thats on my car right now.
the only catch is that there is a broken exhaust manifold stud in the head and I would have to get it out some how. what do you guys think??? bluebird powered 4 door. it would be totally unsuspected;)
byronchrisp05 10-29-2008, 08:06 PM do you have a welder? I always just weld a 3/8 nut to them
Shift1.6 10-29-2008, 10:56 PM We broke one of the manifold stud on my friends elcipse gsx before and it ran fine. We even ran it on the tracks. There was no leak or anything. Its really depends on how far inside did it break. You can try tap and die but its not guaranteed to work. Another way is disassembling the motor and take out the broken stud, at the same time you can prolly replace it with ARP studs.
SR20s rule 10-29-2008, 11:28 PM the stud is maybe 2cm inside:confused: is there maybe a way to drill it out???
BusinessMan_24 10-30-2008, 02:05 AM you can get a bluebird engine for $1300 (30,000-60,000 miles on it) shipped off ebay
sr20declassic 10-30-2008, 03:40 AM Your going to need a lot more than just the bluebird motor to get it running unless your car is already turbo.
Shift1.6 10-30-2008, 04:17 AM Its really hard to say if you can drill it out. Its a hit or a miss, if it goes wrong then it'll be a lot more work. I think the best thing to do is open it up and take out the broken stud or leave it as it is. I think its fine as long as its not leaking oil or exhaust fumes. There's dsm guys out there thats running with out two or three studs.
10psigti 10-30-2008, 04:54 AM get a grabit it costs about 20-25 shipped and will save u alot of hassle
WISR20DE 10-30-2008, 06:22 PM just get a special drill bit, they're sorta tapered and drill in reverse. the bad part is if that doesn't work you'll have to drill it out bigger and re-tap it, or if you're good with helicoils drill it out and go that route. happened on a jeep motor I was working on. it's a bitch!
SR20s rule 10-31-2008, 12:29 AM Your going to need a lot more than just the bluebird motor to get it running unless your car is already turbo.
what else do I need?????
sr20declassic 10-31-2008, 03:35 AM An intercooler and piping unless it comes with a top mount. An ECU. A downpipe that will work with your exhaust. A better clutch. Probably other stuff.
what else do I need?????
