Hey ive always heard about these electric exhaust cutouts, and they claim it helps in power but i was just wondering what people think about them! I feel like it could help a little when open, but then again when its not engaged the exhaust goes through the extra pipe and hits the block off and then come back so i feel it would hinder exhaust flow.. Could be wrong, but let me know what you think! :biggthump

Get it, it's a great investment. You get good power from it and you can shoot flames at other peoples cars from the side. Lol

I believe you can expect a good 15-20 hp jump using these things.

I'm not sure where you are getting that it will hinder exhaust flow when not in use.

The straight pipe on the unit is your normal exhaust flow stream. When you actuate the electric cut out it opens up a exhaust dump and lets exhaust escape the path, helping the turbo to "breathe".

I heard they stop working after a little while cause the heat melts them internally

My brother has one and the thing is nasty. Has an almost stock looking quiet QTEC-back exhaust so others won't expect it. 5 seconds later full open 3'' DP and pulling like a raped ape. I think its worth the money and will save money on tickets. I will be buying one in the future so I can run a stock looking muffler and avoid the coppers.

I got an all stainless one off of ebay, a Doug's headers brand. I would browse ebay because sometimes you run across good deals.

or get the bost activated cutout, don't have to worry about remembering to turn on a switch, it opens and closes according to boost pressure.

They are great in theory but I haven't had the best experience with them. I had 3 units fail on me, and it was the gearsets that failed. The motor was too powerful and would strip the gears if it was opening/closing for too long (there isnt anything to slip once the butterfly shuts/opens all the way). The first time I had the manually controlled one where you held the momentary switch for the recommended amount of time. When this failed I figured it way my fault (holding the button down too long).

I sent it back in and got the upgrade system (beefier motor/gearset and computer controlled). All you had to do was tap the momentary switch up or down and the computer controlled how long the motor was running when it was opening or closing the butterfly. This sounded great but after two gearsets later I gave up and ran open 3" downpipe for a while. Now I'm 3.5" front bump side exit and I love it.

It's up to you but it's better to choose one way or the other.
