My brother has a 95 eclipse gsx with a t25 turbo on it. He wants to upgrade to a t28 and is willing to give me the t25. Will this turbo work with the det manifolds? Or is it different in some way?
Any info is appreciated.

The 2nd Gen DSM T25 has a completely differnt flange than the conventional Garrett T25 flange. It will not fit at all!

That sucks, thought I had a free turbo.

(I'm glad I did some searching before asking that same question).
Ok, another question along this same line...
Can the flange be changed on the manifold to fit the DSM t-25? Isn't it just some simple (or maybe somewhat complex) welding techniques? I think the price of getting it welded would far outweigh the price of having to pay for a turbo.
thoughts?

I know the DSM turbo is capable of more psi, but I don't think it really makes more power. When i raced my friends 2nd gen @ 1bar, I killed him @ 10psi. I know weight was a factor too though

I'm just talkin' 'bout the same thing se-r_bri is talking about...the fact that one is available FREE!! *** my wife is upgrading hers to a 16G.

You might be able to get a machine shop to make you an adapter. I used to have an MR2 and most of our turbo kits included an adapter between the exh manifold and the turbo.
Here's a pic of one from a highperformanceonline turbo kit.

If the Trim is the same as a BB T25 then you can swap the exhaust housing. It uses a garett bolt pattern on the exhaust housing instead of the Mitsu V band clamp used the true mitsu turbos. Then you can find someone with a blown BB T25 and take the housing.

Worth a shot.

hmm...that's a good idea. Thanks!

the reason DSMs make more boost is because their engines dont breathe as well, so the turbo is able to pressurize the manifold more. Ever wonder why DSMs are only making 300-330 whp at 20 psi, when our cars make over 400?

I would recommend just getting some sort of DET T25 instead, as the adapter may cause clearance issues (oil retuirn comes to mind, as well as compressor clearance of the bell housing) and the turbo is turned around on a DSM, so that the big side of the compressor is on the block side, making clearance even more of an issue. Plus, where would you put the piping on a backwards turbo?

Underhood real estate on Turbo SE-R's is at a premium.

So thats why, I've wondered about that.

sounds like too much trouble...I think I'll go back to my original goal of buying and installing an sr20det.
