A friend of mine called me and ran into an issue installing a redtop into a 90 240. He adapted the JDM harness to fit the car, using the JWT guide, but now when he cranks the engine over, the #1 coil pack fires 3 times per engine rotation, #2 fires once, and 3 and 4 never fire. He said he traced the wires back, and the coil wires for 3 and 4 are not miswired into 1. Has anyone run into this, or have an idea?

ummm. no never had that problem but what about the timing of the cas (cam angel sensor) or what about the crank sensor something blocking the end or something just the first thing on my head would be to check the cam sensor make sure it's got all it's teeth and reads correctly

it cant be the cam sensor (not likely)

its the wiring. - check it again. From the ECU to the ignition module (igniter chip) check that its right (with ecu unplugged - they'll have continuity with ground through the ecu).

If its not that - check that the igniter is still good. - The cas is probably not the issue because the cas doesnt usually cause that - i have seen harnesses be wrong and do that ***.

He probably wired the jdm harness in wrong.

s13 sr has no cranksensor... just a cam sensor

also - only one cylinder should fire per half rev - it should only fire 2 sparks per rev not 4
