: EGR on a T25?
Crono1321 08-20-2002, 03:38 PM Hey guys a couple of you probably know I'm trying to get a T25 setup in my car soon. What I want to know is where the egr from the exhaust manifold would fit into once I put the turbo manifold on?? TIA.

spdracerUT 08-20-2002, 04:24 PM No more EGR using a bluebird (or now avenir manifold). Actually, I don't think any of the turbo kits use EGR anymore. The hotshot one did though. I cut the EGR tube and made a plug. If you know anyone with access to a lathe, it'll take 10-15 min. to machine out a plug.

Rockwood 08-20-2002, 04:58 PM uhh, wouldnt recommend trying to weld on cast iron.
the FMAX setup has it, and the revhard would as an option, IIRC.
Crono1321 08-20-2002, 06:10 PM So what do I do with it then? I can't just cut it off can I? When I get my ECU reprogrammed by JWT can I get them to just program it out and then pull it out of the engine and throw it away??

Rockwood 08-20-2002, 06:41 PM NEVER throw stock parts away. you may need them, for stuff like smog, etc. JWT can program it out, and you will have to unplug one of the vacuum lines going to the EGR bell looking thingy. or you could make a plug for it, like by getting a bolt identicle to the one on the EGR tube, and welding a plate over it, then screwing it on. this is on the EGR side of the tube, BTW, not the exh manifold side.
also, you will fail smog with no EGR, unless you dont have a visual smog and you have 2 cats, or dont have smog at all
Crono1321 08-20-2002, 06:45 PM I don't have to do those smog tests in FL, lucky me! Is this going to be complicated removing the whole thing?

Rockwood 08-20-2002, 08:18 PM no
Crono1321 08-20-2002, 09:55 PM Isn't the EGR also on the right side of the head?? Is this the part I cut? What's a lathe? sorry I'm not really super educated when it comes to tools.

Rockwood 08-20-2002, 10:21 PM dont cut anything, like i said, you want to keep as many stock parts as possible.
EGR plugs into the driver's side of the exhaust and intake manifold, a little metal tube.
underPressure 08-20-2002, 10:49 PM unbolt the egr from the intake manifold, make a cap, and either 1: have jwt program the egr out of your ecu or 2: go to radio shack get a 100kohm resister and inline between the 2 wire egr probe....dont woryy about the egr once you throw a turbo on...plus theres no emissions

Crono1321 08-20-2002, 10:54 PM So I can just plug up the holes and everything will be fine? Sounds like a plan. Just for reference, what is the thing that goes smack dab in the front middle of the exhaust manifold on my car. It look like a sensor I might be wrong I am curious to know what it is. It sits dead center around the bottom and goes through the heatshield. I've never taken the shield off so I don't know how far it goes.

underPressure 08-20-2002, 11:24 PM that would be your primary O2 sensor...
Hot NX 08-23-2002, 08:33 PM I am also doing a bb setup in my NX and was wondering what things I have to remove like the egr. Not sure if I have to remove one of the egr bell looking things because its in the way of the top mount?
LanceSR20 08-23-2002, 11:11 PM i suggest taking the egr system off the intake manifold. and make a plate out of thick aluminum and bolting it in its place. to remove the stainless steel tube that runs to the stock exhast manifold, unscrew it from the manifold and you might have to remove some other things in the way, maybe even the distributer to get it out. it sort of gets trapped in between the dist. thermostat neck.. if youre here in florida like me.. you wont ever need these parts again. after you remove them you should be able to bolt up the bb parts,, just run your oil and coolant lines and youre set.
Hot NX 08-24-2002, 12:38 AM Just wondering...if I remove the EGR system from the exhaust
and intake manifold is this done? Heard that you have to get JWT to program the EGR out is this true? What would happen if I don't program the EGR out?

Crono1321 08-24-2002, 12:58 AM Cool guys thanks for the input once again. Just what is involved in removing the EGR? Just a bunch of screws?
Hot NX I do believe you have to have JWT run a "bypass" or something to ignore the missing EGR, otherwise you would have a check engine light, or worse?

SENTRASER 08-26-2002, 07:44 PM I just cut my EGR tube with a bolt cutter! :D
spdracerUT 08-26-2002, 07:49 PM There's no difference in the program between the EGR and no EGR ecus. They simply wire in a resister into the EGR circuit so that the light never comes on or something like that. I'm running a JWT ecu without the EGR mod and I'm not using EGR and the car runs perfect, and no check engine light. So basically, don't worry about it.

SENTRASER 08-26-2002, 07:54 PM What about the AIV thing? The thing right next to the BPT valve? Can you put a resistor in there? My car is running rich, and I think this is why
