Well, I've seen it mentioned on the forum before about the chronic problems with the dip stick tube. Does anyone know an easy fix for it?
My mechanic tried honda seal and it can't handle that temperature :(. Almost started a fire...
Thanks,

What problem with the dispstick tube?
I had one that would not stay in the block. I bought a new one and it hasn't moved since.

Are you saying that the tube comes out when you're checking the oil?

Sorry - I should have clarified. Yes. The tube will not stay in the block.
How does buying a new one fix the problem? How does it "attach" itself to the block?

Good luck with this one. I have never seen this problem before. If you figure it out let us know.

Yours comes out, why don't you look at it :p :D
Its basically an interference fit piece. I bent my original one (on purpose after installing a header) and it became loose.
WHen I put the new one in, the header was already there, and I put it in oriented a little differently to better avoid the primaries. Then I used a big screwdriver and hammer to "install" it. It hasn't moved since then.

Well, it will stay in the hole but it just sets there. If I pull out the dip stick, the tube comes with it. If I want to check my oil level, I have to physically hold on to the tube to pull the dip stick out.
I think I'll try "bending" the end of it a little so I have to force it back into the block. Otherwise, I might try some high temp epoxy. But how hot does the block get around that spot? Can't be anymore than 350 degrees or so, eh?

Coat the end of the dipstick tube with Permatex LocTite thread locker.
The *good* red stuff. Then insert it in and let it sit overnight.
Mine came out a few years ago. It has been in the block solidly with the help of the aforementioned LocTite.

JB Weld Probably wouldn't work to well. By the time you got a thin enough coating on it that it would go down in the hole, It would be dry. If oyu lather it on to thick it will fall out into the oil pan. Not good at all.
Best fix i have ever heard (from some really reliable sources too) is the loctite red method. It works. Its just as cheap as JB Weld. Go for it.

I have some loktite red at home. I'll try it and let you all know how it holds up...
Thanks,
