: Happy days in Chicago (not really)

Well, I took my yearly trip to Chicago to visit my grandparents, and true-to-form my little SE-R broke down......(electrically). I'm just courious whether anyone has experienced the same problem(s). First of all, it just won't start. It'll turn over, just no fire. I have no spark, fuel pump doesn't operate, fuel injectors do not pulsate. I have (I think) 4 constant 12V supplies to the computer, and 1 could be 2, ignition 12V supplies to the computer. I get ignition voltage to the following: coil, distributer, fuel pump (although weak source), mass air sensor, and various others. There are no fuses and/or fusable links blown. the ignition switch is fine (I checked variation in continuity). I cannot run a self-diagnosis on the computer at all. I purchased another computer and was able to get the engine to fire for a few seconds but it promptly died. I was able to get the engine to fire a few times before the other computer was installed but it promptly died after startup. I was unable to get the other computer to run a self-diagnosis before/after I was able to start the car briefly. I was forced to have the car towed to the nearest Nissan dealer and rent a car to get back to Ohio Today for school/work duties. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the cause of my dilemma? I have perfect faith that the dealer can find the problem (well not really) but any insight would help.

Well.....The problem was found......The ground wires for the ECU were broken within their sheath. These wires connect to the intake manifold on the two little bolts located just north of the throttle body on a high port SR20.

May I ask how you found those bad wires? That would be pretty hard i would think.

I didn't, The service tech(s) did. If I had a ohmmeter and a jumper wire at the time, I could've found the problem. This is assuming that I would've had a level head at the time. Neither of which I had..........

BTW.....Are there any SE-R's in Chicago???? I didn't find 1 on the streets or in the 73 junkyards surrounding the big city!

I just bought mine this past Sunday and there are really only a handfull in the city itself. There are a few more in the surrounding vicinity.

I have yet to see an SE-R at a junkyard.

I am a little further north than you guys and I can say that I haven't seen any se-r's in junkyards here, nor have I seen any when I am in Chicago.
